when normal people say "full screen" they mean it zooms the window to occupy the entire screen. ds gamers make no sense to me, so apparently they mean something different, such as "add black bars and use some other random smaller size for the window". you really shouldnt call that fullscreen. call that bizarre blackout mode.

OK the "bizarre blackout mode" made me lol hard right now and i don't want to laugh since i'm almost about to sleep :(

Anyways, fullscreen for peoples like us means doing both things, filling the entire screen and also putting black borders while having the same windowed size, in other words we just want to see the game and get rid of the toolbars and all that.

With console emulators we usually prefer fullscreen that fills the entire screen, however in handled emulators we usually prefer full screen with black borders while having the same windowed size.

Having an option called "bizarre blackout mode" in DeSmuME will make our day. Again i hope that's not much of a hassle adding that in DeSmuME.

The only DS game I've played on an emulator was the first Castlevania game. Forgot the name since I've played so many of them, but I did love playing it in fullscreen. Remember, that since the DS has 2 screens, if you go fullscreen, the image isn't getting as stretched as say, the GBA. I played it on my 32" HDTV stretched to fullscreen with some filters applied if I recall correctly, and it looked very good. Now, if you talk about GBA games, then yes, those are awfully stretched from their original screen, but DS games aren't stretched that badly. I think even a 2x filter would be enough for a fullscreen. Heck, even w/out filters, I'm sure it wouldn't look too bad. Of course, when I say stretch, I mean while keeping the aspect ratio.

lol...the "bizarre blackout mode" sounds great to me; if it gets implemented, keep that expression in the GUI ^^
I have to admit, the toolbar stuff kinda destroys the immersiveness of a game.
I already loved the day when that maximize function was added :)
One more thing: (I'm not into coding and stuff, so please excuse if this sounds stupid) In some games and/or emulators, going fullscreen can give quite a speed-boost. Now, I don't know if this would apply for Desmume also...if it would, that'd be quite cool, though ;)

that's not bizarre blackout mode. that's fullscreen. but it doesnt change your desktop resolution, so it can't possibly give a speed boost.

oh! Nice! I'm following the sourceforge log but I must have overread that one :D
Thank you very much for implementing it though it's such a pain and useless and...whatever you said about it ^^

lol nah rather keep it fullscreen If I would see a "bizzare blackout mode" written in a gui I would never enable it (sounds like it might damage something) and some people will probly create a thread on asking what it is

Just for that, that's what I'm going to call it in the gui.

lol looks like we will see a "bizzare blackout mode" thread being stickied and people will still be asking for a fullscreen (or similiar) option...are you serious?

Just wanna say: "AWESOME!!"

:D
