Sony also laid out the technical specs of the device. The PlayStation 3 will feature the much-vaunted Cell processor, which will run at 3.2 Ghz and feature 2.18 teraflops of performance. It will sport 256mb XDR main RAM at 3.2 Ghz, have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700mhz, a detachable 2.5 inch HDD slot, six usb 2.0 ports, Memory Stick Duo, a SD slot, a compact flash memory slot, Compact flash slot, 2 hdmi outputs, 1 av multi out, 1 SPDIF optical output, and 1-gigabit Ethernet built in port
If VLC works so should MPLAYER, infact if VLC works practically any fully compiled app should. They do ok... I haven't tried anything so intense yet. Oh and... only VLC works and it's a real pain setting everything up.
Its 3000 animations for cover alone oO Insane.Unlike KZ2 which by the mere mention of it's name makes black holes implode,Uncharted,a beautifull looking game by the proven creators Naughty Dog which brought us such classics as Crash and Jak and Daxter is getting almost none.
The game looks beatifull and considering it will have over 3000 animations and it's sort-of-a tribute to Indiana Jones, makes it a must buy for me.
lol... there are different distributions (distros) of Linux, each with its own customized kernel... and applications. The Linux distros that run on the PS3 are so far only Fedora Core and Yellow Dog (which is Fedora Core itself) so only apps that are compiled for Fedora Core works. And what not, MOST Linux apps are written for x86 systems while the PS3 is a PowerPC system... and that means... an even lesser number of applications for our PS3.If VLC works so should MPLAYER, infact if VLC works practically any fully compiled app should.
I'll repeat myself again, if I have to...And if you are really lazy, get Debian![]()
And I'll tell you that Debian still needs a network connection to resolve dependencies... and setting up an application on Yellow Dog is fairly easy, too.I'll repeat myself again, if I have to...
Thanks for that. Obviously it has to be compiled to match the offending platform (in this case PPC Linux), but Mplayer like VLC, like THOUSANDS of other apps is designed to be as non platform specific as possible (a la the inclusion of a .make file) and so therefore if compiled correctly it should work.remedial lesson in linux, compiled distros and kernels
Sadly, they are still platform-dependent or at least, their filters and plugins are. And you can't install them without first installing their filters and plugins so... yeah. Thanks for that. It seems that Sony really have been striving to make up for all the love lost with early compatibility fears. Whilst standing by their original comments that backwards compatibility will not be the focus going forward, the early launch of its compatibility site reveals that 1,782 of the 2,451 PS2 titles (in the SCEE region) available will work on your PS3.
it has arrived to hear but it is not going on sale until 23... I meant all of the units we get which is around 15.000 are already pre-ordered.Its out already? Or do you mean the pre-orders?
Well, it is not as good as it sounds... but A lot better than 12001,782 of the 2,451 PS2 titles (in the SCEE region) available will work on your PS3.
