but i have flashed it to dual boot dingux,and can play pretty much most snes games at fullspeed with snes9x !! final fantasy 3 and zelda super metriod are great,Picodrive runs megadrive/genesis perfect!!
How would you say the snes functionality runs as compared to a psp's snes emulation alternative? That is, if you've ever played around with a psp ^_^x;

I used to have a psp but it wasnt modded,ill miss not playing ace combat tho,im sorta anti sony these days...(hope for psp pc emu someday tho) so i cant really say sorry i think psp may be better tho,but psp is much bigger size....

but i really just into retro games and thought id give this ago ass its such a cool size and with dingux installed i can play all my fav games at full speed!!Crono trigger is super sweet,Street fighter on FBA is perfect speed, theres the odd few games that wont work tho,most of those youtube vids are showing the emulators that ship with the official firmware and most of them are crap compared to the dingux ones :)

Pretty awesome being able just plug it into a TV and play movies or some mario bros where ever you go,only on the official firmware tho,oh and battery life is amazing like 8 hours!!

another few downs about it after spending some more time is the speakers are pretty crappy and the position of headphone out couldnt be worse

i saw this handheld being sold on a magazine catalog i got in the mail.
it was pretty surprising to see an emulation device on the front page of a magazine :eek:

i'm a bit skeptical about the legality of it though.
if it comes bundled with emulators that were ported from open source emus, then you probably can't be selling that legally (unless the emu's copyright terms permit this). it is essentially selling the emulators someone else coded...

if it doesn't come bundled with anything, then of course it should be legal.

So to "legally" own this one must have all those original emulated console first right? darn, i only got two out of them, and DS = Delightfully Small? :lol:
nah, if an emulator was created legally (without using proprietary code like a bios), then it can be used legally by people even if they don't own the console.

for example, the ps1 emu bleem won the court cases against sony when sony sued them for selling their emulator. the end result meant that people could buy bleem and their ps1 games, and then just play them on bleem without owning a physical ps1.

however, on an emulator like pcsx2 for example, you currently need a ps2 bios to run it. so you need to dump it from your own ps2, to use pcsx2 (making owning a ps2 essentially a requirement).

Dingoo is a nice toy, pocket size ,good battery ,good screen , excelent audio quality,plays divx and xvid codec . The downs : Poor dpad,buttons,menu and the prejudice of being just another chinese rip-off . But it's not , you can flash a Linux OS paralel to the official one, and have better emulators , run projects like Open Beats of Rage, PSX4All or emulate phone java games . The latest news is here dingoo-scene

I came to this forum looking for some opinions on this thing. Came across the article in wikipedia and I've kinda been obsessed with it ever since, though I'm a little hesitant to drop the cash on it.

My biggest question is just how stable is it running all the emus?
