Ebert is dead?!? Shit... Must've happened this year... :(

Edit: Last year? The fuck?...

I think though that I would prefer the opinion of the general public, so I'd go with Imdb. Critics tend to look too deep into certain aspects of the movie, when we as viewers remain superficial and don't analyze to that point.

There have been several movies that I read were booed for shitty acting... But sometimes I just don't see that shitty acting... And I've been able to recognize shitty acting before.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: 8/10

"Tonight, I will dine on turtle soup".

I loved this movie, despite what anyone wants to say. I really didn't find anything wrong with the Turtles appearance, and I actually liked it a bit.

I loved the action, Shredder was epic, Megan wasn't shit, so... Yeah good movie.

This is another movie which shows that I IMDB is the ideal standard for me. I know Rotten Tomatoes is aggregating critic scores, but 22? Come on.

Kickboxer

It was a movie about a retarded man get vengeance for his brother. In Thailand.

Seriously. The main guy had the brain of a child. I think the bad guy at the end threw the fight so it wouldn't hurt his feelings.

Ugh.

You and your ratings...

Movie: Interstellar

Rate: 18/20

Review: I had high expectations for the movie. And I was not disappointed. Not a single minute. Not a single second.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes had a nice sci-fi script, for sure. The issue ? It had no room for imagination. For dreaming. And this is where Nolan's Interstellar scenario is great. It managed to stay as realistic as it could, and yet, you could still imagine many possibilities about our future, "they" , what could happen if we go "interstellar".

The characters ? all the main protagonists were perfect in their role, but the secondary ones were really secondary, which, fortunately, isn't really bothering ( apart maybe for Topher Grace, whose introduction was a bit rough and Wes Bentley ( Doyle ) who could have been scrapped nearly entirely, flat as he was ). I really liked the part where Mann ( Matt Damon ) was involved.

The ambiance was perfectly managed. The Nolan's team wanted us to feel like if we were intergalactic explorers and I think they really succeeded: I was constantly wondering " What will be next ? ". More, they spared us the political and ecological bullsh*t, but they still managed to let us think about it a little. Nicely done.

To finish, it was visually stunning and with Zimmer for the music, you couldn't be more served. One of the best sci-fi movie of the year ( with DotPotA ). Of the last five years ?

^ Says the "18/20" guy. =P

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies - 8/10

Not the best Hobbit movie, but I had a good time watching it. 48 FPS is a nice feature and Peter Jackson is the best at making 3D movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy simply Awesome!

It had its flaws like plot holes and the whole friendship thing was thrown out way to sudden, but the delivery was so good it did not break immersion and in the end it didn't bother me at all, the tech was interesting the characters where awesome, the story interesting. I went in to kill some time expecting some comedic punch lines some nice action scenes but it feels like i got so much more, it was a cheesy movie but the good kind which you can never have to much of. I'll say it again: Awesome movie! I can't wait for the sequel.

Guardians of the Galaxy: 9/10 Splendid! I just felt sometimes the movie slowed down a bit too much for me. The beginning was a little boring. My opinion.

The Equalizer: 8/10 You can't set a microwave on timer with no electricity. Stunning performance as usual by Denzel.

The November Man: 6/10 Who was the protagonist in this story. I got really confused as I didn't know who to be rooting for. I don't get the ending either.

The World's End

Freaking amazing. These dudes easily made one of the best action movies of recent times while simultaneously dealing with some very heavy themes. Damn good movie, watching Nick Frost bust heads is amazing.

Turtles (2014) - 5/10

There are some good ideas and design choices in this movie, but they're all ruined by idiocy, weirdness...and Michael Bay, despite him being only the producer which amazes me. For example the Turtles, I liked the different style they all had but the faces were just wrong, they looked creepy. It's weird how the first live action movie still got the best looking turtles. Shredder also looked cool, but he had these giant swiss army knives on his wrists...seriously, just two blades would've been enough.

The movie is also more about April than it is the turtles, in many ways this reminds me of the same thing in Transformers where you follow the human moron instead of the freaking giant robots your movie is named after! ...also, she's kinda annoying, not sure if intentional.

Eeeeextreeeeeme slooooooowwwwwww moooooootiiiiiooooon!!!!

On the plot there were a couple of really stupid moments, which I think are related to the rumor that Shredder was originally not in the movie or something...

- Shredder beats up Splinter, gets the most of the turtles and subsequently the mutagen in their blood...but he doesn't take Splinter despite him also having the mutagen?
- Shredder later beats up Raphael but then just leaves...he already knew April was there to release the others so why did he just waltz off despite obviously having the upper hand.

And last, I haven't seen this many blatant product placements since Man of Steel.
