XFX Will Not Offer GeForce 400 Series GPUs - Says Fermi is Fermented

We just received confirmation that XFX, a division of PINE Technologies, will not be releasing any GeForce GTX 400 series graphics cards to the market when the cards become public next month. XFX was not listed as a launch partner for Fermi and did not issue a press release about the upcoming cards, which might come as a shock to many of our readers as they are one of the largest NVIDIA add-in board (AIB) partners in the world! XFX said that the decision not to carry this series of GF100 graphics card was their decision and that they will still be carrying NVIDIA products. From our conversation with XFX they mentioned that they have "yet to see whether the fermented launch will reach an inglorious anti-climax" and mentioned they want to "Ferm up to who really has the big Guns". We are guessing they mean AMD and it sounds like they have something special cooking up there too.

Ouch, I'm sorry for those who have always preferred cards by XFX, as they are known for their quality hardware and OC'd models. It wouldn't surprise me if this is simply their way of saying "I'm sorry, but nVidia didn't give us any Fermi chips as they already don't have enough for those who haven't branched out to offering ATi cards."

As long as MSI has a gtx 480 or gtx 470 (Choice depending on finances) in July for me I will be a happy man!

In the almost 2 years I have had my MSI 9800GTX oc I have had zero probs so I see no reason to go with another brand that I have never tried before

In the almost 2 years you've had your MSI 9800GTX oc I see no reason for you to get a new card right now unless you plan on rendering Toy Story 3 in real time.

I agree with this. My MSI GeForce 8800GT OC is still serving me more than fine.

P.S. I've had two MSI cards. The one here, and an MSI GeForce 8600GTS OC.

The latter was bad, not because it was an 8600GTS (wasn't half bad actually), but because it had a "flaw" in it's design to where the fan always ran full speed unless paired with an MSI motherboard (had it paired with an ASUS first, then a Gigabyte), and the fan was ridiculously loud. I took it our of my then secondary PC, and it fell nearly silent. I put it back in, and it sounds louder than my primary PC with a nearly open case, many more fans, four hard drives, etc. (although my primary system isn't loud by any means, but still). Stuff like this is the stuff you research different brands for.

Nvidia won't provide

We have heard and confirmed from multiple independent sources that XFX won’t have Fermi cards at launch.

Nvidia is punishing this highly successful brand by cutting them off from Geforce GTX 480 and 470 launch cards, and this is a direct result of XFX's last year's decision to to start selling ATI. Since Nvidia’s sales department doesn't know any better, this is the action the green company decided to take.

Nvidia refuses to see that this might be a bad thing for the whole company as XFX has a very loyal fan base who will probably start standing up for themselves when they realize they won’t get a decent launch quantity of these cards.

In the meantime, XFX’s answer to Nvidia’s cut-out deal is bringing the fastest ever Radeon HD 5970 X2 cards with super specs, and we will try to get as many details as we can.

Cid has said the only reasonable thing here so far.
XFX isn't stupid. If they had GF100's then they'd be making cards. Money to be made. Simple as that. NO ONE would say no.

If no GF100's are available to them at launch, then they're not going to say, "Nvidia didn't think we were high enough on the food chain to give us any of their limited supply of GF100's. Most of them went to eVGA" That would make them look bad. Saying something like, "We're not sure about GF100 yet, we'll see" gives them power and saves face.

True i agree, still they should concentrate more on what the consumer wants imo this reasoning almost sounds childish...

Either there are no cards available for XFX to package or nV are truely silly for blacklisting XFX for producing video cards.

Either way, nV has lost out.

Funny..... XFX said the reason they didn't have any Fermi parts is because they don't have any Fermi gpu's allocated to them at this time.

Link please Squall.

It still doesn't surprise if you're right about that, as I already expressed in the first post.

Anyway, what worries me more is that there's distributors forcing stores to actually purchase 10s of other cards before they are even delivered a single GTX480 card. They are certainly cashing in on the demand for Fermi cards.

don't have any links unfortunately, its direct from one of my "channels".

Don't be surprised to see some custom 480 PCB's from XFX once gpu's have been allocated to them. Its already been shown that it can be shrunk down to GTS 250 size by rearranging the PCB layout.

Leadtek and AsusTek are nvidia's oldest launch partners so its a definite that they would get first launch priorities, along with BFG who service Europe for the most part. (atleast they did....)

Guess how much cooler your gpu can be when you whack on a pure copper block and embed a turbine fan ^_^
