Ok so im playing xenogears with this emulator, and for some reason, at some parts, the screen goes black except, a small little strip on the bottom. now this used to just happen occationaly during a few parts, but when i am not playing, and it came back after i started playing. however, it happend this time during a part i need to do. now ive tried restarting it, but aparantly there are designated parts because only those parts will go black. now ive gone through the game before, and this never happend, so im wondering whats going on?

post your video plugin and how you have it configured. also post your system specs. are you playing from the disc or from an image and does the game do this on other emulators like psx?

this is odd, i hit video and this is the messege that appears:

This Application has failed to start because WNASPI32.dll was not found , re-installing the application may fix this problem

nevermind now its working, now where is it?

where is what?

... and... what exactly are you looking for? *has really no clue at all*

You should be using ePSXe if posting in this place, to find its version just look at the main window when you start it... the version number is quite big, with colors.. .and nice shape too.

For the plugins, you could just screenshot its configuration window and attach it here. If using any of the Pete's video plugins, you could use the [Copy configuration to clipboard] button at the bottom right corner of its configuration window. Just click the button and do a paste here while posting.

It's suggested to use ePSXe v1.7.0 to play Xenogears due to some bugs being fixed.
I also suggest to use the Eternal sound plugin to avoid "missing sounds".

Your Pete's OGL2 version is quite old, latest is v2.9

First of all, get the latests Pete's GPU plugins and update your Display Device drivers.

Pete's site - GPU Plugins

Try with compatibility settings: 1-2-2. Check "[ ] Use Pixel Shader for PSX texture window" if the dialog is still messed up.

Under ePSXe v1.7.0 it's suggested to disable FPS limit, because the emulator has a built-in one.

Also... do the Pete's soft plugin look the same? (update ALL Pete's GPU plugins, including Soft plugin to version 1.18b)

In the a place where you see a "glitch", press F7 to switch into the Soft plugin and check if the "glitch" still shows. That would tell if it's either a plugin issue or another kind of issue.

The question about if you're are overclocking your video card, is related to the fact that hardware in such condition is prone to produce image corruption.

I've played Xenogears with ePSXe v1.7.0 and OpenGL2 v2.9 with an nVIDIA card, never had such issues. If I remember properly, the settings used were:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9

Resolution/Color:
- 1280x960 Fullscreen
- Internal X resolution: 2 (just cuz it looks pretteh =P)
- Internal Y resolution: 2 (same up, reduce them to improve performace if running slow)
- Stretching: 3 ( should have no impact in performance, just taste =P )
- Render Mode: 2

- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- TexWin pixel shader: on
- VRam size: 512 MBytes < specified acording to HW ammount

Compatibility: (all into standard)
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 2
- Framebuffer uploads: 1

You should try with the other render modes and, specifying the ammount of VRAM you have.

i dindt download the new soft pluggin should i?

EDIT: i guess it does, i tried to configure the soft pluggin and wuhlaa, it closes.... ill download that after im done with something

Well the f7 thing didnt work. not sure if im overclocking or how to check. and how would the disk image be bad? its an ISO file and it didnt do it the last time i played through.

Make sure you're using ePSXe v1.7.0, and make sure you have the latest Pete's plugins (including PEOpS Soft v1.18b).

With ePSXe v1.7.0, you should be able to switch while playing between the current GPU plugin and PEOpS Soft plugin. For example, once you have a graphical issue, press F7 to switch from OGL2 plguin and check if it shows the same under PEOpS Soft plugin. If it does, it's probably to be a corrupted image.

Or, to make it simple, just use the Soft plugin from start and play. See if you have any graphical issue with it.

I've played this game with ePSXe v1.7.0 + OGL2 v2.9 with no such graphical issues.

Also, it should be a good idea to follow basic troubleshooting such as updating your display device drivers and other drivers, and do some maintenance to your computer.

Well i went to go configure the soft pluggin (i just downloaded the new version) and it said windows had an error, i had to close it down etc,

ALSO this may be related but before i go to video it says This application has failed to start because WNASPI32.dll was not found. Re-Installing the application may fix this problem.
i hit ok and another eror pops up with weird symbols and letters, then i get to the video thing, after that i hit configure on the soft pluggin and EPSXE.exe has encountered a problem, and needs to close, and its got the Send error report, adn dont send. soooo thats what happenss

in the GUI go to run>enable logs, then start it up like normal and post what it says in the DOS-style box as it might give specifics on the error and whatever has caused it. as for the .dll thing, you can get the file it says is missing here.

What 15 errors, from what thing to buy?! o_O ?!

You only needed to get a file from that site.... just one file. >.>

And, there's something wrong... with the memcards now?
(someone has its computer pretty messed up)

This is the file you needed, it's from Nero 8 => Winaspi.dll [rar]
Get it, and put the dll in your main ePSXe folder.
(you'll have to extract the dll from the rar file)

The memory cards are fine, well for what i use them for

ALSO sorry to add more stacking to problems, at the first deus fight, the music played, my gears still moved, but deus stoped. now it may be a one time thing, but im gonna see what happens tomrow, bececause im tired and rather not go through all the story line stuff again. so as i said it may be nothing and i think i might remember it hapening last time, but again we will see tomrow

and im not the one who put the stuff on here, so i have no idea what they did, maybe when they come back i can talk to them, but im doin the best i can, im just learning on how to do all this (obviously) but yeah it is messed up, and i need a new computer, but dont have the money :/

Your memory cards will not save, according to the logger info posted, to fix this, go into the memory card settings and save/select the memory card in the folder.
