WMP12 was playing mkv files afaik....

I have used TuneUp utilities for over 2 years now and love it!

It is a very simple way to keep your system clean!

most tuneup apps are just doing functions that already exist within windows :p

^ true, but it also simplify them, some are just tricky like adding key in registry
actually i use tuneup mainly for disabling administrative share and some tweak (delay, active window tracking etc.) not automatic maintenance, i had bad experience with automatic system optimizer ><

those can be set as defaults using nlite :p

Any good program to recover "lost" data from a hard drive(a friend had a problem with his PC, he installed XP over Vista and he apparently lost some files in the process)?

FoxIt PDF Reader >>>>>> Adobe Reader.

Adobe:

- 25MB setup file
- Stupid Adobe logo on start-up
- Automatic updater that asks you to install updates all the time
- Crappiest Firefox plug-in that uses at least 50MB of memory and is VERY buggy.
- Buggy program; often shows perfectly working PDFs as corrupt.

FoxIt:

- 3.5MB setup file
- Instant start-up
- No annoying automatic updater
- Has the ability to edit and create PDFs
- Slick Firefox plug-in that's very low resource-hogging and snappy/stable.
- Simple light app that never fails.

I HATE Adobe Reader!!

I use Pdf X-change viewer.... had incompatibility with reading some pdf with foxit, but it was v2. I don't know now, might give it a try
.....

Recommended App:
AIMP - (non-bloated feature-rich) winamp like music player
the good :
- light
- tabbed playlist
- superb queue management
- traybar and miniplayer
- shoutcast/icecast support (with recording too!)
- event manager/timer (shutdwown etc)
- library, recorder, audio converter (more like integrated plugin/module, hence it's not bloated)
- skinning support, has some great skin (like lineage by san4o)
- "default" music player capability (equalizer, visualization, rank etc..)
- compatibility with (some) winamp plugin
- all this with setup file less than 4 MB!

This replaced winamp classic for me and all my friend who have tried this! :D

i much prefer winamp's 5 modern look over classic any day. its just a lot ewasier for me to work when when ive got over 600 songs. instead of having to open up multiple windows like i do with classic.

edit: appearently ive got over 12k song files my fault. i use to use itunes before when i had an ipod shuffle but sence i cant change it to much i started looking for an alternitive and found winamp. i tried winamp before when it was only version 2 and didnt like the look of it it was far to different then itunes which i come to enjoy having the library. so i was pleased to see that winamp came out with version 5 which had everything i needed along with the great plugins that most people came to except from others from the version 2 days.
