It has zero useful purposes in games, except very niche ones o the kind of Ingress. MS set a very dangerous precedent with Kinext-only Xbox One, and this proves they did not give up the concept, and it may be forcefully bound to future releases of Windows ('always-listening' Cortana is already, now we're looking at 'always-streaming').
I'm surprised noone saw it as it was: a commercial implementation meant to make the idea of centralized computer systems being made and allowed to scan reallife to finetune their object/people detection routines (basically crowdsourced datamining dependant on adoption, even minimal - like by just employees and state agents, albeit the model should already be developped enough by the time they use it, otherwise it'd only be scanning, and with the using existing dataset)
