Why is PCSX2 running so slowly?

Here is my computer's specification, is it even good enough to be running PS2 games?

Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit
1536MB RAM
400GB Sata II 7200 rpm
Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.7 ghz
nVidia GeForce 7300GT 512MB

I have tried to play Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec and Final Fantasy X-2 using the PlayStation 2 DVD's. Here are the plugins that I am using:

ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.97.0
P.E.Op.S. CDVD (CDDA mod) 1.3.0
ZeroSPU2 0.4.4

I have also enabled the "Hyper Threading" option under the CPU settings but it didn't help. It's not the end of the world if i can't get it to work, as I can just use my PS2 but it would be much more convienient if it would work. Thanks for any replies.

Your PC is not Powerful enough to run PCSX2 at enjoyable speeds.

Pentium 4's are extremely slow when compared to Athlon 64's, Athlon 64 X 2, and the current Core2Duo processors.

You need at least a Core2Duo 512 MB+ of ram and a Geforce 7xxx/8xxx series GPU or equivalent to get playable framerates in most games on PCSX2.

Your Pentium 4 might be sufficient to play less intensive 2d games and maybe some 2d/3d games without intensive 3d.

With your PC it will suffer/crawl trying to emulate most 3d games, especially games in intensive/complex 3d geometry.

And no there is no way other than upgrading to solve this and get playable speeds, and with the expensive cost to upgrade or build a new PC you are best just playing it on your PS2.

By the way this is the wrong section, here is the correct section to post in:

http://forums.ngemu.com/forum-announcements/50846-pcsx2-forum-rules.html#post718442

Make sure you read the rule to find out how to enter the forum, and read Thread/Faq/Sticky on why PCSX2 is slow (I can't give a direct link to the forum it's in because of the rules.;)

Lastly don't make other threads on performance issues with PCSX2, as I mentioned theres a sticky in the PCSX2 forum explaining why PCSX2 is slow and the minimum requirements to run games on the emulator decently.

Performance related threads are only viable when theres an issue with your system and others are getting better performance with similar specs, and even then such issues/threads are wise to be posted in the Hardware Section if the problem exists with your system and not the emulator.

Welcome to the forum by the way. :)

Ok, I'll stick to using my PS2 for the time being then. Thanks for the help and sorry about putting it in the wrong section.
Yeah that's a good idea, I have a Athlon64 X 2 3800+ and a Geforce 6150 and can't break 30 FPS in games like Resident Evil: Code Veronica X, DBZ: Budokai and Twisted Metal: Black.

The emulator is extremely CPU/GPU hungry due to the complexities of emulating a PS2, only the Core2Duo's can achieve playable speeds on most games.

Your GPU and ram are ok, it's just you are CPU limited. Pentium 4's aren't even real dual cores, hyperthreading is just a marketing tactic to make it sound appealing. P4's with hyperthreading only have one Physical and one Virtual core and can execute 2 threads at once the virtual core makes windows think it's dual core when it's actually not.

Depending on what type of game you want to play you can try less intensive 2d game which should run fairly decently.:)

youve already been warned about asking for help on a game you admitted pirating, have a week off to let the "DONT ASK FOR SUPPORT" sink in

Did you even bother reading the forum's title? This isn't the place to get pcsx2 help.

"PS2 Plugin Questions & Troubleshooting" << does it say PCSX2 anywhere on it?
