A new version of everyone's favorite lightweight bittorrent client, uTorrent has been released a little while ago. Thought you might wanna know...The site's now even updated yet as of now.

You can grab it here, or get it by using the integrated update/autoupdate feature.

List of changes here

As expected, version 1.7 adds full support for Wondows Vista, local peers discovery, detects a few more BT clients, the usual grapes of bugfixes and memory leaks, as well as more "autoshutdown" options, and a seemingly improved disk caching.

EDIT: As refraction reported, version 1.7.1 is out, whose usage is recommended above 1.7

1.7.1 Stable has been released

--- 2007-07-13: Version 1.7.1 (build 3360)
- Fix: Invalid download amounts being reported to trackers for >4GB torrents

and a seemingly improved disk caching.
How is that improved? I couldn't really find it in the change log. And disk caching was actually the only thing i had a complaint about from my Utorrent. I hope the new version would leave my harddisk alone and keeps it in cache till a certain amount and than copies it in large pieces to my hd instead of reading/witting all the time. Especially with high speed upload/download my hd suffers so much that my whole notebook slowsdown.

This latest version of uTorrent is reporting stats to the tracker out of no-where, and would result in you being caught by our anti-cheat system, and most likely banned.
I have some problems with 1.7 final...
Seems that it reports incorrect data on some large torrents.

For example I downloaded a 4.31 GB torrent from a private tracker and uTorrent only reported 316 MB. This happened multiple times... Never had these issues with uT 1.6.1.
want to use it now? :p

utorrent 1.6.1 is final for me, no need to change it ;)

I think that it's worth it, 'cause my downloads speed has increased a lot.
Downloading 100kb per second.
I've never reached that before my internet speed is 384kbps.
Really!!! I had this chinese torrent software. It's called thunder. Very fast since it's originally Download manager. but, the negative side is it can't seed, only download.

I use Bitspirit now, which remarkably works better and faster for me than utorrent (Any Version). ;)

just a question : why are some ppl insisting to stay on utorrent 1.6.1 ?

Haha, I'm sorry but I had to post that the video above is completly hilarious. As far as uTorrent, I don't really insist on using it. Honestly, I know my opinion wouldn't matter, but I think that Azureus Vuze (new version of Azureus) is a little more stable then uTorrent, just uses alot more resources, which is a downfall, but for some reason, I've had multiple issues with uTorrent unlike Azureus, but I'm also behind a router, so downloading with uTorrent can sometimes become quite slow on my router, despite opening ports. In honesty, I like the File Sharing websites like Rapidshare, Megaupload, Megashares, etc. only because it's hassle free and sometimes the speed on those sites are 10x faster for me. If only Rapidshare was free...:thumb: I honestly hope this program makes it through though, I really like how it uses little to no resources, considering I only have 512MB Ram. I remember using it, I could still play Games on the PC while downloading and have no type of FPS Dropping at all, whereas Azureus would cause games to FPS Drop in the big time. Overall, I still find this program pretty good, I give it a 7/10. :heh:

Sorry mate, but movies and music are legal to download here. Software is something different though.

Enable UPnP in the config, along with encryption, win!
