Trying to figure out cause for slowdown

Hey there. I'm trying to play FFX on my new notebook. The best speed I can achieve, regardless of plugin settings (including any resolution) is unplayable. Here are my notebook specs:

Core i7 2.2 GHz
GTX 560M 1.5GB
8 GB DDR3 RAM

The game runs fine on my at-home desktop, with the occasional playable slowdown. Here are its specs:

Core i3 2.93 GHz
GTX 460 1GB
4GB DDR3 RAM

I know that PCSX2 is not designed to run on 4 cores, so the only thing I can think of is that the .73 GHz difference in clock speed is the problem.

If that is the case, there's nothing I can do except overclock, which seems ridiculous for a CPU like this, but hey, that's what emulation is all about. Alternatively, if any of you know how to manipulate Turbo Boost so that it will kick in while PCSX2 is running, or any way to solve the problem without going into the BIOS and overclocking, I would be much obliged.

If that isn't the problem, any insight into what is would be greatly appreciated.

Also, sorry if I'm being stupid. 99.9% of my emulation experience is with ePSXe which runs perfectly on a four-year-old netbook with any game, so yeah. I've never had to deal with problems of this sort.

Again, thanks.

The difference is that your notebook throttles the CPU speed to keep temperatures down.

Download a little program called throttlestop (google it) and use it to disable all of the throttling methods in place.

This x10.

Additionally, you can control the base multiplier and force speeds (including turbo).
