I just hope the 360 won't see a simple port, but a Square game specifically designed for the 360. Ports and multiplatform games have never been an indication for a system's power.

No but the XBOX had better ports than the Gamecube and Playstation 2, and had a few exclusives that were good. I always felt the Playstation 2 had quantity, even though the multisystem games were better on the other systems, Nintendo had its first party, and The XBOX had military online games and a few other eclusive games, if the 360 gets Squaresoft games, it'd be a plus, I doubt it'll matter one way or another, I seriously doubt people would buy the 360 for Final Fantasy...but I might be wrong...

RPG gamers will stick with the PS3, but it might help convince people to buy the Xbox360 when they only want to play a few RPG's when it's not the genre they primarily play.

No DirectX 10 for Xbox 360
ATI has responded to rumours that the Xbox 360 could receive an upgrade to the Microsoft DirectX API.
We reported the rumours from a Dutch site last week, according to the stories Xbox 360 would be upgraded to DirectX 10 via a patch that would enable easier cross platform development of games such as Crysis. However ATI has stated that the Xbox 360 cannot be upgraded in this way.

"Xbox360 cannot run DX10," said an ATI spokesperson. "The Xbox360 has unique features including memory export that can enable DX10-class functionality such as stream-out. From what we're hearing, Crysis will support DX9 with some sort of use for DX10 features. It's likely that those DX10 visuals can be replicated on the Xbox360, but it can't be properly called DX10."

Xbox 360 Back Compat Expanded to Nearly 300 Titles

We just posted a Backwards Compatibility update, with 39 new titles and 9 updated titles--the largest number of new games updated since the original list of over 200.

It's interesting to note that this is the first time the list includes titles that are not on the market yet for Xbox, with Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run, The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, and Lego Star Wars II. And of these, Lego Star Wars II also has an Xbox 360 SKU – another first for the BC list.

The list includes Burnout 3: Takedown, Counter Strike, Dead to Rights, ESPN Major League Baseball, Tom Clancy´s Ghost Recon - Island Thunder, Lego Star Wars II, Mortal Kombat: Deception, Over the Hedge, Rogue Trooper, Serious Sam, and Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run. It also includes updates to Half Life 2, The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer, and several more.

You can play cross-platform between Xbox 360 and the original Xbox over Xbox Live. And with anti-aliasing, these original Xbox games will look better than ever on Xbox 360 running in 720p and 1080i.

The team is continuing to work hard to certify as many original Xbox games to work on Xbox 360 as possible, and we’ll be adding to the list. Check Xbox.com/games to see the current list and information on how to get the free software update.

Good news for the 360 crowd! Assassins Creed has just been confirmed for the 360 by Ubisoft. ;)

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/729/729877p1.html

However this is VERY strange oO I mean why now? Doesn't make any sense. Its clear they had some deal with Sony but this doesn't help Sony at all so why reveal it now? Maybe there was no deal at all and this was just Ubisoft trying to create some buzz around the game.

Well and those aren't even final ( i think oO i dunno when the game is comming out). I just think that they look kinda weak for a next gen game. GTR2 is looking better on my laptop :p

And imo, its poor for next gen :S I mean look at that GT4 pic with the same car and tell me if thats a big improvement (besides the resolution increase obviously):
thats pretty much the primary diff X360 offers from last gen anyway

seems to me GT:HD could be released instead of being jsut a demo and still hold a good chance, provided they squeeze in online gameplay +the usual.

Btw on a side note, Microsoft just annouced MS Flight Simulator is 14GB long oO. I'm confused, is 9GB enough or not :p

Oh and btw, 360 drive only reads dual layer discs (9GB) at x8, and seeing its CAV the BR drive is actually faster, again i'm confused :p

(Sorry i'm beeing evil now :p)

Those screens look like crap. Who knows where they came from though? A very early build of the game? It was leaked, so who really knows. Just doing a search on Google brings up a lot of discussion on leaked Forza 2 pics.

They came from one of the dev teams. And yes they most likely are from a early build, but after this leak i'm sure we'll see some damage control screenshots soon. But lets face it, first the CG traillers, now this? I'm starting to think this game will be a failure and i was looking forward to it :S Hope not.

Yes those are the damage control screenshots i was talking about. Didn't manage to control any damage here. :S

Oh well, lets hope gameplay is great. Geez i still can't believe how low rez those grass textures are. Not to mention the filtering is horrible :S

They should delay it as far as I'm concerned. Maybe if enough people complain they'll get the picture. This game needs a major overhaul. Someone ought to tell the devs to wake the hell up.

GTR2 (Ive only seen screens) indeed looks about the same as that... heck, even LFS doesn't look far behind that way (and it was never known as the prettiest kid out there). I'm pretty sure it'd be more impressive in motion. It SHOULD be. Not impressed so far, a bit of blur doesn't cut it either, just makes it look like the first Toca Race Driver ;)

Actually GTR2 looks alot better Samor.

Thats one of the games i'm absolutly getting. And i was amazed that the demo ran so smoothly, but i think they improved alot over the demo. I'll even upgrade my computer or buy a 360 if needed. Hope to see you online there too Samor ;)

What a crappy shots, it seems like they need the blur to hide the butt ugly textures

The 360 should be capable of more, I hope. The only improvement over last gen are the trees in the background.

those look a lot prettier than the ones I've seen before, and it makes poor LFS pee in its pants :(

However, I'm not upgrading my PC just yet.... and does GTR2 even start on a Geforce 4?
LFS is just about the prettiest game on my PC... yes, there are tons of games that are graphically better, but I can run it in 1024x768 with 4xFSAA while retaining a good speed. Can't say that from, say, NFSU2 (yeah, as far as PC games go it's become a bit outdated here ;) )

I just posted a news about this on PS3 thread, but I think this should fit here.

Xbox 360 HDMI cable.

At first glance, I said to myself “what, HDMI is not possible for the Xbox 360.” I also do not claim to be a techno guru with the T.V department but that what they were selling. I was searching around the xbox forums to see if this is old news and an interesting tidbit led to quote from anandtech posted by Nielo TM:

"Originally we assumed the chip below was a TV encoder, but we've since found out that the TV encoder on ATI's Xenos GPU is identical to what is on the ATI Radeon X1000 series of PC graphics cards - meaning the Xbox 360's TV encoder is located on the Xenos GPU itself and makes use of ATI's Xilleon display engine.”

"The display engine also features the hardware that actually drives the display output, and Avivo has a number of enhancements here. Dual 400MHz 10-bit per component DAC's remain, as in previous graphics implementations, however this time the TV-Out display engine has been lifted directly from ATI's consumer electronics Xilleon processor (this engine can be found to be driving the displays of many Sony televisions, for example). The last generation of Radeon products only integrated a single link, 165MHz, TMDS transmitter for DVI output, however Avivo products will feature two integrated dual link transmitters, hence two digital panels can be independently driven to 2048×1536 @ 75 Hz or 2560x1600 resolutions."
Now that's some interesting news.
