All i've been hoping for is now gone, my fears just came true and i'm more than worried now:

I've dealt with tons of PS3s as many of you know and i've repaired countless Units and every single time is just the exact same issue with the heat that Sony sort find ways to get it better but there is not real solution rather than Software prevention. In my eyes that is no solution.... pressing Hardware so tightly will eventually lead to issues and previous Generation(or should i say current gen still) is a good proof of that. As you can see in the Video the Hardware is well designed(Sony of course so no complaints there) but in favor of design they are once again putting Hardware tightly toguether like a sandwitch. Just for the record we all know is a AMD cpu/gpu inside as well as some high Speed rams. As PC users we all know what that means.... now look the Video again, put your favor for Sony aside for that time and think about it because we all know that is not going to work out at the Long run. Maybe Sony can make wonders but i'm now 100% sure that the PS4 will have heat Problems down the line where the only differences this time is that sony will prevent it to happen by turning off the console or just showing you a message that is too hot. That is one measure but not a solution and eventually Troubles are going to Surface.

Now everyone can come and disagree but don't say i didn't warn you. For the record i'm not against the PS4 as i will eventually buy more Units at the end than most members here(as i always did lol) but i knew this is going to happen and was hoping that i was wrong. Now that i know the truth i guess i'm going to prepare myself for another repair season. To be honest i'm terribly dissapointed because that is not going to be fun even if it will probably never reach the scale of the Xbox 360. Now thinking that they are targeting games to run at 1080p and 60FPS that is going to be fun to watch in the Long run as such Hardware is going to produce some serious heat... let alone noise if the fan have to go faster.

I actually have never had heat issues with any sony system...but i do the smart thing and cover my system when it is not in use. I opened my ps3 once to clean it out..and there was almost no dust in it..and that was after about a year of use. Keeping the system covered or enclosed when it is off saves it in the long run.

Since it is a pc cpu the worse it would happen is for the cpu to throttle down i think...These chips don't use a steady clock like previous gens did.

I expect that to happen too but.... imagine you're playing an awesome game at 1080p and solid 60FPS and the Scenario you described happen, i think we both know how ugly that will end. My concerns about the design base in the fact that we have a PC architecture here with a AMD CPU/GPU, GDDR5 Ram, Bluray drive and HDD tight toguether in a very Slim design cooled down using the headsink and fan shown on the Video that judging by my experiences with Sony consoles simply not work. When i first saw the pics of the PS4 backside i thought there will be more fans or a better cooling System but what i see in the Video activates all the Logical warning bells of my head to ring endlessly. I have some small concerns about the Xbox one design as well but right now i'm worried about the PS4 one as it clearly Shows the Problems i saw when i first saw the final design. That's the reason why visual design in consoles isn't always a good idea.

That is indeed a good way but not everyone does that.

Off screen it looks pretty good. The amount of work that's gone into lighting and crowds does a lot for the games atmosphere, but as graphical fidelity has improved, animation quality is the thing that will drag these games down. While there is some great stuff in there, the transitional animations are still not really there. With the ball seemingly traveling at the same velocity for every pass, the same for every shot, the way players react to where the ball goes looks more and more like code starting and stopping as opposed to flowing like a real game.

Visually games are going to look pretty good this gen, but I'm for other things this time around. I want to see more natural movement, more intelligent AI, more diverse interaction with the game world, I want to see gameplay evolve, not just how many polygons and lightmaps fill the screen. If the game runs at 720p, so be it. I'll live with it, as long as the game is fun that's all I need. GTAV doesn't run at master race levels (nowhere near) but I had an amazing time with the game and that's all that really matters for me these days.

Which is why Killer Instinct is the only game in the launch lineup of next gen that really excites me. It looks like a fun as hell fighting game, and with the devs not alienating any part of the potential audience by including an amazing dojo mode its the only thing that I'm really keen to play. Not just because I'm a big fan of KI, but because they are taking the steps to improve the gaming environment and the way we interact.

Plus Orchid. Me gusta.

That's well said my friend and totally agree with you there. The whole 1080p vs 720p debate is tiresome and at the same time not really good for games. At the end devs will be forced to Focus more in offering 1080p while removing or not adding awesome stuff just to reach the Goal or forgetting about those great Details that make games a Beauty. Just as you i'll rather have a game that is 720p but that rocks.

LOL! still can't stop laughing hahahahahahahaha!

I really think it's all down to how well microsoft can use the kinect to their advantage, they are going to have to push with some quality first party titles to back it.
Something microsoft isn't particularly known for. Only time will tell.

It's not only the resolution that is the problem with the upcoming gen. Both PS4 and X1 are unimpressive in different fields as well and both don't feel like consoles anymore, rather unupgradable (if it's even a word, lol) PC or a HTPC under your TV. The games, the atmosphere and the overall feeling are no longer unique. If PS4 handles game patches the same way PS3 does it will be even worse - they are EXTREMELY inconvenient on PS3 and when you pop an older game in, it's a real nightmare (try Little Big Planet or GT5). I can't keep all the data on my HDD as it's not that big and I'm not buying another one just for keeping patches :> Steam handles is really well, Sony should do the same on PS4 and I shouldn't need any PS+ subscription for it.

The thing is, when you look around the web the upcoming generation receives more complains and downright trolling than any excitement or adrenaline rush like it used to be. If one console displays one tiny pixel less than the other in some game, hell breaks loose and troll threads spawn everywhere. Play whatever you like dammit, spend that time actually playing games or doing something constructive instead of complaining for the sake of complaining... Or if you are going to complain, do it about some real issues.

I don't hate Sony, on the contrary - they gave me some of my greatest memories in gaming. I wish they had more unique games for PS4, if they do I might even get it, no matter the resolution they will be in. PS3 has them too, yeah... Only they're mostly HD versions of PS2 titles :/
