Hey all, I've been searching up and down forums to try and find info on this issue. Maybe I just don't fully understand it, but I can't seem to find similar issues to mine.
A while ago I got VBA, Pokemon Ruby, and Pokemon Sapphire. I played both a bit, wanted to trade, needed VBA link, had some trouble with the saves, and since I hadn't gotten very far, decided to just start over again with the VBA that came in VBA Link 1.7.2
Started playing Ruby. I could do in game saves, (start-> save). Never had a problem with it recognizing save files if I just clicked on Pokemon Ruby # GBA.GBA, or by opening VBA, then opening it through there. The save file is Pokemon Ruby # GBA.sa1 Played for a couple of days, never any problems with loading or saving.
Started Sapphire. Same deal, save file as Pokemon Sapphire # GBA.sa1. Again, no problems ever with anything.
Okay, then I decided to try and trade. Loaded up Sapphire okay, no problems. The problems started when I opened up another VBA link and it would not recognize the Ruby save. So I tried again, starting VBA, loading Ruby, and then loading the save file. The save file would not show up in the window, but when I manually typed it in, it gave me an error saying "unsupported visual boy advance save game version 0".
So I tried renaming the ruby save to .sa2, didn't work.
So closed that VBA, then closed the VBA window with Sapphire successfully loaded.
Starting again with one window, opened VBA, but could no longer load my Ruby save!
The sapphire save still works. Deleted some of the vba1.ini and vba2.ini, but it would still load sapphire successfully (of course, without my VBA settings like the clock), but not the Ruby. Restored the vba1.ini and it could still load Sapphire, but not Ruby.
So I'm really scratching my head on this one. Everything is set up as it has always been and never had a problem. Before I start trading, I want to at least get access to my save. Sapphire works great still, but not Ruby.
Oh, right, and while I know that all the threads say to have the saves as Flash 128K, I have had no problems playing with the Flash 64K. But I don't know if my settings will cause other problems down the line, or if it is the source of my current problem.
Thanks for putting up with my problems
