I'm not sure about how well the Edifiers are, but much of Logitech's audio stuff is probably generally a step or two above generic and sold at prices much higher than what they are worth. This is more true for their newer stuff, but was also true for the older stuff.

I had a set of Z2300s which I was pretty happy with during the duration for what they were; a set of speakers sold ready to go, especially getting them for $90 shipped. I came from cheap speakers though, and although I'd still say they sounded relatively good, they were rather unremarkable. They're usually discontinued and/or priced over what they're worth anyway, plus they're arguably generally failure prone.

They failed, and I had them replaced with Z623s, which are worse and not worth their usual price. I would be disappointed at Logitech, but their support was disgustingly good. Still...

Therefore, I'd say the Z623 you listed (I presume you meant that since there is no Z263) and the lower Z523 isn't worth it.

That all being said, I'm not saying the Edifiers are better (or worse) either though. I don't know so I can't/won't say.
Actually i have a cheap small setup and i never felt disappointed.
It's all subjective.

I was happy with my no-name (Regent?) 2.1 setup too at the time, as they were free and being compared to/replacing my previous lesser speakers. I was then happy with my Z2300s compared to my no-name ones. I am yet now happy with no speakers I have ever owned compared to these, and they're probably not anything super special and cost about half of what either of the Logitech sets did/would (although they're not speakers, which is as much of a con as it is a pro).

You'd rather go for a relatively decent 2.0 setup than those Logitech models.

At this price range I'd suggest Creative's GigaWorks T20 or T40 but they don't seem to be available any more.
They were phased out by T20 and T40 series II and I have no idea if the new ones are more or less the same, or Creative decided to cheap out with them.

Just a reminder here, if the speakers are connected to a motherboard having some crappy onboard audio solution it doesn't matter if the speakers are good or not, they will sound pretty bad anyway.

From experience you get better clarity and value with logitech than with edifers... still i would recommend logitech x-530, it has 5.1, but if you give it stereo sound it gives 2.1 so you can just use it as 2.1

x-530 is dirt cheap, offers great clarity and it kills any other speakers still (its very old) at double its price, it even been confirmed to offer better clarity for the newer cheap 5.1 logitech speakers.... also x-530 is one of the few cheap speakers i can get that offers noticeably better sound with better sound cards, i know most cheap 2.1, even from logitech, cant do that... and lastly i am looking to upgrade x-530 to newer and better set and its looking like for me to get something significantly better for pc I am looking at the $500 price range

Yeah I have the logitech x5-30s here hooked up to my HTPC with a X-fi extreme gamer sound card and it sounds awesome in my bedroom. The speakers were only $90 a few years ago when I picked them up from walmart.

ok, let me eliminate some of them :)
i've been searching over the internet, and Logitech z632 got so many positive review also Edifier C2+.

in this case ( Logitech Z632 vs Edifier C2+ ), what do you think of the brands ? which one is have a good name in sound quality ?

The Logitech X530 is supposedly nothing special. Like the Z623 was inferior to the Z2300 it replaced, it's inferior to the Z5500 it replaced, which itself was rather overpriced for what it offered (though like the Z2300, it was better than much of today's Logitech stuff and was relatively "good", but both are said to have their flaws). 5.1 sets that cost less than 2.1 sets do for a reason. You get less. You're far better off with a good 2.1 setup.

Anyway, those reviews are probably from people who know little better. Honestly, the Logitech's aren't going to be "bad", and if you're like most people, you'll probably even love them. Between the two, I'd recommend them. I would think they're not much worse, if at all, and they likely have better support. Still, there's far better options out there though. I have a set of Z623s and they're "alright", but I wouldn't buy them again personally (I actually didn't but them; I bought Z2300s and when they failed, I got these, but honestly, I probably wouldn't buy the Z2300s again either). If you've never heard better and aren't an audiophile though, they'll probably work for you. Audio is really relative until you start reading up (and listening up) on it.

Ive yet to hear a set of computer speakers that are worth the money. Now Home Theater is totally a different story. But most people don't buy Home Theater setups for PC's, it's overkill. With a PC your are closer to the sound source, so surround sound is much less immerse. So a good pair of phones makes sense most of the time. Run a DTS track on high end home theater, then run it on a high end computer setup. No comparison.

That doesn't matter. For someone looking for speakers, headphone may not fit the role.

By the way, the "home theater" sets essentially fall under the same criteria. It's the same thing. Many of those aren't anything special either.

I don't agree with that one.
