Sega Asks, "Do You Still Own A Dreamcast?"

Sega of Japan has been sighted nosing around our Dreamcasts, asking all sorts of questions. Questions like, "Do you still own a Dreamcast?" and "What's its serial number?" They've just updated their Dreamcast.com website with the first question, and clicking on it takes you to a page where you can use your console's serial number to register for a user.dreamcast.com account.

---Link Removed---

After entering the serial and some other pertinent info, you'll get a simple email confirmation thanking for registering. Once your account is approved, you'll then have a (yourserialnumber)@dreamcast.com Gmail account.

Sega updated their Dreamcast trademark to include new terms back in August, and now this. With the tenth anniversary of the console coming up in August, one can't help but wonder what the hell is going on.

Hell i still do i have my dreamcast. I cant play it because my puppies ate the power cables but i still have it, with the original box in perfect condition and all xD

I think im going to register the thing just to see what is this all about :eyemove:

Between me and Charline, we have three fully functioning Dreamcasts.

I wonder how Sega would deal with that?

From what I heard on another forum, Sega can't get the parts to the GD-ROM unit anymore, so I'd refuse to part with my Dreamcasts. I keep hoping to find a way to Transfer all of my GD-ROMs to PC like was done with my C64 collection, so I could eventually play them in emulation.

I still enjoy a number of Dreamcast games. IIRC I have ~ 50 Dreamcast games.

Some people think its a fake.

The registration page is offline and "temporally" suspended, however there is a lot of evidence to prove that this site is in fact fake and not run by Sega.

This includes the source code of the site being poorly written, the server not being on Sega's dedicated servers, the e-mail verification coming from a non-Sega domain, Google Ads and Play-Asia advertising on the homepage, as well as a Sega Direct link, even though Sega Direct is due to close at the end of March.

would sega give every one a new super secret next gen console in return for their old dreamcast ??

or are they just planing on releasing new titles?

thats what goes in my mind now
Last I heard, Sega said they had no intention to change their plans of making games only and that they were satisfied with their current position.

And a fourth console? Please, 3 is already a crowded area.
