Why in the world do they cost so much?
They don't cost that much, at least, if you do the maths. Ever bought something internationally? Decent shipping options cost between 30 ~ 50 USD. EBgames, for example, doesn't provide any options other than UPS which charges 55 bucks if the price of the item is below 100 USD and something like 80 if it's above. Next, factor in customs~.

Now, customs (I think it's about 40% of the final price) + 50 USD of shipping + 60 USD for the game = roughly 150 dollars. So all things considered, the price is rather decent~.

It's the same everywhere else, happens in Argentina too. People see high prices and they are like: "Rip off!" but stuff has to be exported, and shipping isn't free~.

These days I get everything from ozgameshop, free shipping from the UK to Australia, and the prices are always below the RRP. New release games rarely go above $56 Australian. Only downside is the shipping time, can take up to 2 weeks, but who's in a rush right?

The problem with shipping isn't so much about time but security. Cheaper (or free) alternatives don't come with insurance or a tracking number. Which means that if the package is stolen, you are ****ed and can't do anything about it, whereas if you at least had a tracking number, you can file a complaint with whoever's postal office that lost it and have the money reimbursed~.

Those prices are in Australian dollars and are pick-up from a local Australian store with stock supplied by Australian distributors.

Another example using a local department store catalog that is on sale now and is known for "reasonable" prices...

Because games companies are ripping off Australian fans.
Are you sure its actually that or maybe the taxes that come with games are high, since your government is rather against them...

We have a similar situation here where something is quite expensive but half of the price is due to the taxes for the said thing.

Its not that the government is against games as such, they just have a bad idea of what should/shouldn't be banned.

Not sure about taxes for games here though, but either way it is still a blatant rip-off and something needs to be done about it.

And you think they don't pay taxes~?
I only said what I said in response to you saying we are paying an extra $50 because of "postage"

The Force Unleashed 2

This game is many things, rushed, short and virtually emulates most of the elements from God of War 3 namely the constant falling, the QTE kills for repetitive bosses and the ending all smell exactly like GOW3.

Story doesn't make too much sense, the combat has been simplified to just mash attack over and over, and the PC version has terrible screen tear. Most of the Force powers feel underutilised except for one scene where Starkiller used the mind trick to make a Stormtrooper jump out a window which was pretty funny.

Overall it feels super rushed, repetitive and under utilised. Should have spent more time in the oven to make it a worthy sequel.

I didn't say Australia were, I used the sum as an example of how much it would cost to buy the game straight from an American store. That said, just because you have a distributor selling to stores in Australia, it doesn't meant that they don't have to pay for shipping even if by bulk, a fee that comes into play for the final price~.

At the same time, taxes / customs also come into play. The price that you are charged isn't because videogame stores are ripping you off, it's just the final price after applying all the things that form the equation. Unfair, but certainly not the stores' fault~.

No country out there pays the same for hardware as they'd pay in America or Europe. Naturally, same goes for games. Why do you think stores that sell import games (meaning, japanese games) charge so much? Taxes, customs, shipping~.

Geez is the 60 USD price tag worth it then? :\
It only just released and all new games cost that sort of amount regardless of whether they offer 10 hours or 50 hours.
So you're gonna have to wait a bit if you wanna pay a more legitimate price for the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Nintendo Gamecube - 8/10

Easily one of the best looking games on the Gamecube, the enviroments are massive compared to previous titles and brought to life with great art that at times can only be appreciated when you stop to look around. The models are fantastic, its amazing how close they look like the OOT promotional art they published in magazines! You do run in to blurry textures in the outdoor enviroments sometimes though.

The gameplay is a lot closer to OOT than the previous titles. Despite some similarities it deviates significantly with the darker engaging storyline, the ability to transform in to a wolf, and the ability to travel between the normal world and the alternate twillight world. The dungeons are similarly huge and the puzzles can be very challenging at times as a result and at the same time their can be striaghforward. The bosses are a lot of fun too. Man did I love the some of the items in this game, I loved the spinner and the dominion rod. I think the sky temple in this game is a first for Zelda right?

bulletstorm pc
7.5/10

history 0
lame and dumb history, conversations are crap too, worse than DMC4, really why they bother with such a crap history???, also the villain sucks and is very annoying

gfx, 8/10, UE3.5 is showing age, but still looks great most of the time, the bloom is very nice, everything looks fine, but after crysis 2 most games looks like crap now XD, after playing bioshock and batman, and gears1, you feel you have seen everything UE has to offer

gameplay, well this game is very fun, feels a lot like GOW without cover system, last like 8 hours of pure fun, i didn´t like that your squad does not do anything, they shoot but they never kill nobody, many ways to kill in this game, always was great for me , tons of action, 0 scares, 100% lineal

Yeah DMC4 was just fine...I agree that Bulletstorm's story isn't great though, it somehow doesn't feel like a propper game, more like a long DLC or a really really long prologue or something. Perhaps even a wacky X-Men spin-off, like Wolverine and Cable characters into one Duke wannabe going zombie hunting.
