OMG i'm so loving Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. I haven't gotten so far into it yet. But so far, I can tell this one is a real gem. :thumb: 10/10 so far. I love the interactive experience so much on the PSP that I may get it for my Wii. That's saying something since I don't like much interactive experiences on the Wii.

I can't wait for the next Silent Hill game. This makes me want to take a shot at Silent Hill 4: The Room again. I got bored with that game really easily.

Oh well, I'll play this game and the Condemned. AC2 is on hold because I'm waiting for my friend to catch up to me so we can help each other out on one part... :\ Oh well, I have two amazing games to play to keep me occupied until then! :D

silent hill:shattered memories was actually pretty dissappointing to me, sure at first it was awesome! any actions you make is reflected in the game itself, like the colour of the house you painted, and the choices you make during the therapy sessions.. but as time goes on it gets much boring.. at first it's fun, you feel fear of what will come when you open a door, so you open it up slowly.. gently nudging the analog stick sloooooowly so that the door wont open so fast, and you peak around with the flashlight, inspecting every nook and cranny in case an enemy is just there, ready to make a jump at you (which i always did in the first part of the game), but after doing it over and over again, you'll start to realize that there's no enemies in the real world, it's 100% safe to explore! this to me is just too dissappointing and takes away from the fear.. the enemies are also all the same from start to finish, meaning no diversity in terms of gameplay, just the same running around follow your GPS to the marking point while avoiding the same enemies over and over and over and barging into doors that looks entirely the same, and occasionally picking up flares, knocking over some stuff and hiding in closets (which is useless since the enemy always find you anyway). just the same thing over and over with no change whatsoever, so dissappoint.

one thing i liked about the game is the story, that i hated as soon as i saw the ending
you're playing a dream all along!? wtf!? it's like the horror essay i wrote as a child where in the end, when the monster and about to rip your jugular, you mom calls you to wake up and you realize it's all just a dream.. come on..

all in all, a game that is fun initially, but wears off soon after, i've never played a silent hill game before, but if it's like this, then im glad i never did, 4/10.

I'm a die hard fan of the series. Silent Hill: Origins is one of my favorite games. The only Silent Hill game I have not played is Homecoming.

It's supposed to be psychological horror. No pop up scares (though it has happened rarely in a couple of games) or much blood and gore.

If you want to give Silent Hill a try then do what Noja suggested to me (he was the one that made me obsessed over the series) play Silent Hill 2 on the computer or PS2. It's a great game for a beginner.

Honestly, I can see why bleh would not have liked Silent Hill: Shattered Memories since he has not played any of the other games in the series. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a great game. But I think the game is going to appeal to gamers that are huge fans of the series compared to people that are just starting out with the game.

Beginners, don't play Silent Hill: Shattered Memories as your first Silent Hill game. Instead, play Silent Hill for the PSX or Silent Hill 2. That will give you a much better introduction of the series.

I do enjoy the fact that Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is taking a different approach with this game. It is much like an alternate retelling of the original Silent Hill that I grew to love. Still say this game is 10/10 for me. Missing the combat, but I think the interactiveness of the game makes up for that. However, with the combat missing, I think it takes away a part of that "horror" factor.

Oh well, for anyone that has been a fan of the Silent Hill series, try this out. As for people that want to just start on the series and use this as the first game, make sure you choose a different Silent Hill game. Make sure this is one of the Silent Hill games that's at the end part of your list.

I am big giant fan of sh i agree with bleh shsm is 1 very dissapointing in the the series the future title will go downhill when the man left i mean akira yamaoka

I'm a big silent hill fan and think shattered memories is a **** game... you just run, run, run, crap puzzles, no combat (not even melee)... they've changed what made the game a survival horror, like what capcom did with re4/5.

I liked SH: The Room. Any of you guys played that one?
i liked sh4 too, but my preferred is 3. besides sh4 problems, this is what silent hill is, and what shattered memories failed to capture. at least origins did a good job

Yeah that one was pretty good.

I don't remember which one Shattered Memories was ... Was that the last one they made for PS2?
It's the newest Silent Hil game, released at the beginning of the month over here, maybe earlier in America

Yesterday I finished Castlevania Lament of Innocents.
7/10

The game was action oriented with some small puzzles, plot was kinda good but the acting was desirable.

Got a 99.8%, unlocked Joachim and Crazy Mode. But don't feel like playing that again.

Not even a nice fmv for the ending. bah

At least I know that this is like a prequel and the hero was the first Belmont to fight vampires.

I really hope Curse of Darkness is better than this, At least I will appreciate it more.

I think I will get back to Shadow Hearts from the New World, got to finish that.

On my to play list are:

Castlevania Curse of Darkness.
Suikoden III
Odin Sphere.

and some pc games like:
Borderlands.
X-men Wolverine
Dragon Age.
Mass Effect 1 and 2
Batman AA
Fallout 3
The Last Remnant - Don't know If I will finish that, plot too boring.

Seems I got my hands full for a year. :D

I'm with Iruka, the game is awesome. It's not the best SH game, but it's one of the best SH games! I have experienced it on the Wii. I have the PS2 version too but I don't like it. And I believe the PSP version is worst.

For the best experience; play the Wii version.
I liked SH: The Room. Any of you guys played that one?
I have finished that one years ago, PC version. It's nice, I liked it more than SH2.
And why people complain about the combat thing? You can't kill those ghosts in SH4 too, except dogs and some boring monsters!

The movie was better than the original or the re-imagining.

SH1 had a woefully underdeveloped story and SH:SM had an ultra crappy twist. Each of them had something interesting to offer in terms of atmosphere. It is ridiculous to have nostalgic feelings over SH1's combat when it was like playing as a boat in a knife fight. The Nightmares in SH:SM really did get your blood pumping as you tried to evade the creatures in them, but they should have created them to require more intelligence and less blind running around. Perhaps they should have also been more unexpected.

The player's struggle to survive in a survival horror shouldn't come from challenging fights, but if you really must have your precious combat for the fear factor go play Homecoming. I had to put that game down since the combat portion was purposefully too hard for the supposed suspense and thrill which I felt neither of. I really did want to play that game all the way through to see it unfold. I ended up reading the script instead.
