You do know that if there had been a corner or two in there the Vette woulda gotten raped right?
How so? That's a Corvette, not a mustang. Muscle cars of the 70's sucked at cornering, but a stock Corvette beat a 911 GT3 and Turbo at the Virginia raceway Lightning Lap. Corvette 436 Hp with the Porsche having 415 hp with rear drive.

As for the GTR....

I admit you need far greater skill to drive a Corvette than a GTR, a GTR has far more sophisticated computers that do the driving for you, plus the added grip from one of the most sophisticated AWD systems available.

And.....it still loses. Vette Nurburgring lap 7:19. New 2012 GTR with more power AND enhancements 7:24.

Vette Lap 7:19.63

GTR Lap 7:24:22

Now the LFA with enhancements has set a lap of 7:13 supposedly. Don't know if it is official or not, but it had to be a ringer. A stock GTR head to head can take an LFA. And the Lexus is 280 grand more.

Wow ok, I knew the Vette handeled better than the usual american trash but I didn't know it was that competitive

Yeah it is.

It's quite something to see an American Car going head to head with Europe's finest.

Watch the video before reading the spoiler...

What now, Phil? =P

I'd just get the best looking car, in the end you know it's both you and the road that are the limiting factors anyway. The rest is just men comparing their exhaust pipes really ;)

Agreed. Though really I would never spend that much on a car anyway. I spent about 16K on my Impreza WRX STi and I am entirely happy with it. You can't beat a subaru when it comes to the reliability:cost:fun ratio.

I've not once regretted buying the Subaru, but if I spent 200k on any car, I would be constantly second-guessing myself.

Not to mention, the nature of the beast means that "supercars" are horribly unreliable. Not that it's the car manufactures fault - it's hard to design a engine designed to hit 200MPH that is also reliable. But my Subaru hasn't had a problem that cost more than $100 to fix in the 20K miles I've put on it, which puts it at a total of about 58,000 miles. (Excluding the tires, which set me back a tad over $2k.... But Performance tires are expensive...). My car hits 150MPH which really is thrilling enough for me. And my car even gets around 25MPH highway (with reasonable driving) which is impressive when you consider a 280HP turbo engine. (My Mustang V6 never got much over 20MPG)

I find cars incredibly boring.
I'd almost agree with you. Looking at cars isn't all that exciting (people who droll over cars confuse me), but when you get into the driver seat and slam the gas pedal, it gets exciting. Unless you drive a slow car.

Okay, I had originally planned to build a new PC last month to replace my current one, but the death of my SSD threw a spanner into the works since I was going to bring it over to the new one. While awaiting the replacement to come from warranty, I noticed that AMD's Bulldozer was supposed to be released... today was it? Thought that'd give me a chance to see the Sandy Bridge's competition and perhaps sway me to go AMD once more.

Except, it still hasn't launched, the consumer chip I mean. And very sparse data about its actual performance. Which coupled with the delays, may very well be a sign of bad results I speculate. Sigh, so should I just forget AMD and go ahead with an i7 2600k?

whatever you buy, something will eventually beat it in the future.
if you wanna buy something, buy it, don't stay in a state of dilemma. its dangerous.
This is true. Especially with computers. You'll either be hating yourself when the price of whatever you buy drops, or when something better comes out. So just buy something and try to be happy with it.

And Niku made a good point. It's gonna storm like hell.

An i7-2600k is stupidly quick on it's own, just like an i5-2500k (which I have), I don't think you will have any regrets if you get one, they are monstrous chips and have magnificent performance.

Agreed. You can't possibly go wrong with a 2600K

Bertrand Russell. The most brilliant man to ever walk this earth.

Cars in general are until you take them to a fun place to drive. Even a slow car can be fun on a twisty road. Mine isn't the fastest of the bunch either, 120 BHP with a top of 190km/h, but taking it to the Eifel near the Ring where you're constantly in 2nd and 3rd gear on a rather dodgy quality hillside road with speeds in between 60 and 120 km/h, that's where the fun's at. It gives a bit of the rally feeling no game can match.

The Subaru would be awesome there, although a tad risky perhaps as more power makes it harder to control, and it's not like it's a closed track with no incoming traffic. Great power means great responsibility :p That said, I wish I had the Sebastian Loeb version of my car lol.

25MPH on highway doesn't sound too bad though, I bet mine almost does double though :D
