MGS Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41 SPU hack dissapears after starting game

Like the title says. It may sound like a noob question but heres what happenes. I open ePSXe and then I go to the config menu then sound then I choose Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41 and click on Enable SPU IRQ hack and then click on Configure and click on wait CPU action.

That should be good right?

Well anyways, I load up Metal gear solid via ISO and then when I reach a cutscene I get the laggy voice overs. I exit out of ePSXe and restart then go to the config menu then sound and when I get there I see the the enable SPU IRQ hack checkbox that I just checked is unchecked but the wait CPU action in config is still checked. Could someone help?

If this was confusing, please tell me which part was and I'll try to clarify.

Try pSX emulator, it runs the game with perfect sound

yeah but pSX has crappy software graphics, maybe he wants to play MGS with enhanced visuals.

does this happen when you use PSXeven, SSSPSX, or PCSX?

strange problem though. do any of your other plugins lose settings? are you playing out of the zip archive? (you need to unzip everything before you play)

Yeah, I can confirm this strange behavior, it happens to me too. So I'm using P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9 for MGS (I'm playing it now) and this works without problem, SPU IRQ hack stays checked..

More than it, P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9 seems more compatible with MGS to me. Just one important thing. When ePSXe is escaped and then continued sound is muted. I didn't find a way out of it..

I also tried P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9. But it also had the same problem... I'm going to try out some of the alternative emulaters as suggested by hushypushy, but please leave some more suggestions.

Jingesu9> Sorry, my mistake..I read your post wrong. Problem is You checked box in Sound settings. Left it unchecked and check same option in plugin configuration.

edit> More suggestion? You can use SPU core (build-in plugin). Works well but some samples sounds wierd. (You'll need to use it someday: As I wrote when You escape ePSXe and then Continue sound mutes. Only plugin imune to this is just SPU core so You'll need to play with it when You come from Disk 1 to Disk 2, when You *must* ESC&continue for disk swap. Otherwise You'll begin Disk2 without sound). Another option is try again Eternal and set it same (left SPU IRQ hack unchecked in sound settings and check it only in plugin settings). Or, last but not least, try different emu. Make Your pick..;-)

I tried what you said, Ren, and first I left the hack in config unchecked and only the checkbox in sound checked, but it didn't make a difference in the sound and when I restarted it was unchecked again.. Then I tried only checking the config box and not the sound box and it had no difference but it stayed checked.

Thanks alot tho, I'm currently checking out alternative emulators.
