hello
I searched the forums but couldn't find anything relating to this weird sound problem I get while playing Lunar 2 (img/ccd/sub) in ePSXe v1.7.0 with default settings.
At the beginning of the game, just after Hiro steals the gem and then falls, he gets up and starts running from those two fire creatures. While he's running, he begins to narrate something. The problem is, his speech cuts off after the first sentence. The music continues to play though. When he reaches a door and goes to another room (still running from fire things), his speech returns but cuts out again.
I then loaded the same image (img/ccd/sub) in pSX 1.13, which ran it just fine. I thought "maybe ePSXe doesn't like Lunar 2 in img/ccd/sub format". So I tried it in bin/cue format with ePSXe and it worked perfectly. "What the hell...maybe something went wrong the first time." I then tried the img/ccd/sub image again in ePSXe and got the same sound problem.
I don't think the image is bad because pSX ran it fine, and I also do not think ePSXe can't play Lunar 2 perfectly because the bin/cue image ran fine.:???:
I thought img/ccd/sub was the format of choice for PSX games. Does Lunar 2 need subcode? If not, could that be the problem? Should img/ccd/sub only be used with certain games that need subcode (defeating copy protection, etc.)? Then why did it work with pSX? Is ePSXe just better at detecting errors?
Is it just a simple setting I need to change or different sound plugin?
My specs:
Win7 x64
cpu - i3-2350m 2.30ghz
If anybody has Lunar 2 in img/ccd/sub format, can you load it up in ePSXe v1.7.0 with default settings and post your results.:thumb:
thanks
