Very rarely, I start to play an RPG and much more rarely I play through it. Hence the totla number of RPGs I have played through stands at a mere 2. CT and FFX.

FFX took me 45hours. CT took me about the same time, but I played it many a times. So I think the most play time I have given to any RPG is CT.

If u guys are talking but gameplay here, id like to mention a nice little RGP called Diablo 2. man this game is as addictive as crack. maybe even more. i think ive easily spent more than a whooping 400 hrs on this game (Single player). and i still haven't finished it (damn those ancients :p ). i got a level 81 Barbarian in ACT 5 Hell :D.

Diablo 2 has replay value if your new to it...if you've been playing it since it came out...well...the joy doesn't last that long anymore...i remember i paid $60 for that game...

EDIT: And its not a console RPG... its on the pc

Star Ocean 2 is quite long, if you conisder you have to play it twice with a different main character if you want to beat it completly.
And if you want to get all of the characters, and beat it on the toughest difficulty setting... Yeah, it can be somewhat lengthy.

For some reason the RPG that I spent the most time with, is FFVII... back then on my dark days I played that game for 150+ hours, the Lord of Darkness curse me for being addicted to an RPG...

well i've played FF7 for around 1000 hours total (alone and with my friend) but, it only takes like 30 something hours to finish it once :p

like others have said, dragon warrior 7 is the longest, most painful rpg. emphasis on painful.

Well, let's see now. FF 1 on the Nintendo due to the fact that I did the bosses out of order and also kept trying for the ultimate sword in the final dungeon. I kept dying and had to restart the final dugeon over again. Then there was FF Adventure on the GB. I took my time, did everything, and leveled up.....a lot. Lastly, BOF (the first one) on the SNES. Again, I did eveything, got everything, and leveled up....a lot.
Non console RPG would have to be Ultima II. Great game, worlds of fun, and tough as nails. Probably put in well over 100 hours on that one.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

mainly just doing every sidequest, trying to level up like mad, messing around, etc etc....

...about 20 times :D we have been through that game so many times it's unbelievable, i remember back in the day we played all night long and my PSX overheated and wouldnt boot up so we had to wait until it was cool...or the times when we tried out every gameshark code and saw how fast we could finish the entire game. good times :D

How the heck do you guys take so long on your RPGs? Between this and the long Grandia runtime, either I'm a prodigy at RPGs or I'm just way too old (but in the latter case, sx should be making me look bad :p). Gah, it's just like all the posts I read saying KOS-MOS looks too old now. I feel like I must be 80 or something. Oh well, just had to comment on all these times that seem two times or more the length I spend to complete a game the first run.

well, Alundra took me almost about a year to finished.:heh: i only played like once a week and i stoped playing for sometime, but the main reason that took me so long to finish the game is the puzzles of the game, some of them are very hard to solve..:eyemove:
