I found a game that no PSX emulator can play

Believe it or not it’s the Japanese version of the first Toshinden game.

I’ve bought it on eBay to go along the Japanese version of Toshinden 2+ and Toshinden 3 and after trying it with ePSXe; I found out that it only gave me a black screen. I tried different BIOS, GPU plugins and even 4 other PSX emulators including VGS.

Only one emulator managed to sort show some garbage graphics but it was far from playable. How ironic that a Japanese launch title from 1995 still manages to stop and crash every PSX emulators today.

Oh well, at lease it’s a nice collect’s piece and I can still listen to the audio tracks (which are better than the NA version BTW).

your system specs as well please. did you try other gfx plugins? try petes open gl 2 if you got a nvidia card, if not you've already got the right thing. also did you point the emulator towards the correct cd/dvd drive?

"I tried different BIOS"
"Oh well, at lease it’s a nice collect’s piece and I can still listen to the audio tracks (which are better than the NA version BTW)."

how did you get a different bios? Can't you play it on your psx, you must have one if you got yourself a bios!

some games just dont work. you can try here and check out different emulators and plugins and such. but some games just dont work, like Irritating Stick or Unjammer Lammy. it happens. emulators cant be perfect.
Umjammer Lammy workes fine on ePSXe and Xebra.

For those games above that this guy complaint about. Xebra runs it just fine. I was told ePSXe run it as well but with a certain of plugin. Since I rather Xebra because it do not need plugins and you only need a bios. Again I use both of course, heh.

oO

I do not agreed with you. Some people will say in here that I got my bios from dump..It is bull and you know it. We are not telling people where to get one but if you know how to dump your bios then be our insist since it is perfectly legal but bios are everywhere and people getting them are not from their own psx dumping bios.

Be aware that I am tell you right now is a truth. I have seen them many time in any forums telling the lies and liars. Dumping bios is not the answered people are having. Some of them getting it illegally and some get it from their own dumped.

Thats simple...what you are telling is not how things worked.

Of course, we are not telling you where to get one if you do not know how to dump it.

Trust me; my computers have more than enough juice to handle PSX emulation. I said computers because I have 3 of them: a PIII a P4 and a T-Bird.

Also, it's not a matter of plugins, I know when a game is just not compatible and that's the case for this one.

Finally, regarding the BIOS, don't give me that legal bull. The average person using a forum has at lease 3 Gigs of illegal crap (MP3, Copied games, ROMs, Cracked Software, Illegal version of Windows and Office).

alright, let's not get into this lame "everyone has illegal stuff so it's fine" bunch of bullcrap AGAIN. don't ask, don't tell. you have a BIOS? ok good. i dont give a crap where you got it. i dont need to know, and i dont want to. speaking of dont want to know, i dont even know where you got that "at least 3 gigs of illegal crap" information.....and dont even tell me.

anyway, have you tried those other emulators? any luck?

As I previously stated, I tried many emulators in including VGS which requires no plugins to run games. I didn't start this topic to get help on how to play it since I know that there's no way to play it. The game is so old that no PSX developer thought about including whatever special coding is necessary in order to play it.

As I just mentioned that Xebra and ePSXe can as well.
ePSXe cannot play the Japanese version of Toshinden, which is what I have. I know the NA version runs, because I've played it before, but the Japanese version is different, it has different music, different voices, different art work and by the compatibility, it's safe to say different coding.

As for Xebra, I couldn't make it run anything. I don't have a manual and my Kanji is rusty.

i asked your system specs because different gfx cards require different plugins... not because i thought you had too weak ones :p

also check under "country" if you got it on auto, ntsc or pal. if it is on auto try forcing it to ntsc (japan/us), it may be detencting pal (europe) instead of ntsc.
Got an old non-brand AGP in the PIII, an NVIDIA in the P4 and an ATI in the T-bird. It's not hardware related any more than it is plugin related. When you've been fixing and troubleshooting computers for as long as I have, you tend to know when something just doesn't because it's either incompatible or plainly wont work in any scenario.

Wrong. Look below for a proof. Xebra has nothing to do with Kanji language. Mine is in english version.

Something is not right. I have a proof of three psx emulators. They all run perfectly fine with me:

ePSXe (PE.Op.S Soft Driver 1.17 with any bios):

Xebra (any bios):

pSX 1.4 (with any bios):

Enough for this. All runs just fine.

Nice, now please go back and read my topic carefully and reply back when you understood your mistake.

Maybe the game you bought had a defect, or badly scratched?
If the Audio tracks play nicely and Windows can open up the content, then nothing's wrong with it. Even if there was a problem with it, not only would it have prevented me from making an ISO, but most CD problem end up giving freezes or skips, not preventing you from loading the game in the first place.

It's Japanese and it's actually Toshinden 2+, which gives you not only Memory Card feature to save your scores, settings and unlocked characters (yay, need to input the codes every time codes), but the game also adds more energy for your characters, so you don't die with one big attack (desperation, overdrive) and one hit.
