Many emulator pages are getting axed left and right.
Interestingly, those without a clue about emulation do that, and consider any sources or information coming from the very origins as well as reputable leading emulation sites to have to be biased and less reputable as a source than the new york times.

Yeah, the guy leading the riot against me and the pSX Wikipedia page seemed pretty much like that. I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty sure pSX is a little more notable than one of a half-dozen barely used NES emulators that there are short, crappy Wikipedia pages for that have yet to even see a request for deletion.

Sometimes I strongly wonder what's going through their heads.

Well I know. It just sort-of bugged me (and still does, to this day) how they actually went out of their way to get rid of something that me and many other people felt (and could prove) was notable.

And yeah, I remember crap like that happening. Not on the pSX page of course, but other pages. Vandalism is a good word for it, since it sure as hell isn't constructive.

And let's not forget the edit wars that constantly go on because two groups of people can't decide on simple, idiotic matters. Or the people who just like adding random crap to an article because they're drunk or high or just... ugh. Some people just amaze me.

whoa it's been a looooooong time since I last posted here, so much so that I forgot the password to my original account AND the email I had registered it with :emb:

mods, if you're reading this, I used to be pSXfanatic (the OP of this thread) but as I mentioned above, that account might as well be dead and buried, I hope that's ok with you :dead:

anyway, just popping back in to see if there are any signs of pSXauthor being alive and well, and obviously to ask about the state of the best emulator ever, a couple of months ago I noticed it's technically alive according to wikipedia AND I heard a good portion of the v1.14 code is/was being used in MESS so... what's going on? I'm starting to feel like all that people that waited 12 years to play Duke Nukem Forever, except I'm waiting for an already great emulator to become spotless and at the same time enter the realm of PS2 emulation...

also, I stumbled upon one of those errors that I'm pretty sure only I notice: when playing Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver NTSC-U in Bin/Cue format everything works fine and dandy AFAIK, the only hiccup it has is an unimportant bin/cue sector out of range error after the intro movie, BUT, when I converted the game to CDZ format, the intro movie started hanging randomly, or just playing the sound with a frozen image; after said intro is done and before you start playing the console gets FLOODED with "play_xa: unhandled xa mode 000000ff" for a good 20 seconds and then things go back to normal... this, as usual, is not on the compatibility list

my system specs remain the same (because I don't have the cash to upgrade my comp, nor do I really need to do it anyway)

Intel Core Duo 2.40GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel 82945G GPU
OS - Windows XP SP2
pSX v1.13 with SCPH1001 BIOS

dont convert isos or bin/cue images either, if theres a prob there is a prob conveting it makes the prob worse....

stop downloading pirate and rip it yourself and then you have no probs....

also spend some time reading the forum rules as it states no support for piracy

I'm certain this will turn out into another pointless internet fight, but ever since I've been here (years maybe?) I've wondered how you've never been banned for throwing poo at every single post and thread you see lagunareturns, I also looooove how you wanna play the internet white-knight and point everyone to the rules or say this and that like you know what the emulator authors/forum mods are thinking :rolleyes::rolleyes:

furthermore I'd like an answer from someone who actually knows what they're talking about regarding pSX or CD images

and pardon me but when did I ever mention downloading anything? go and read the full thread, I rip my own discs, thank you

[/rage]

sorry its just that another guy ages ago on another thread asking how to get the disc image to work, that he converted the iso into many formats and getting no where and it was due to pirating it and because of that he got caught out on downloading a corrupt image and wasted every ones time effort on solving the issue....

still if you have a prob with a disc image, dont convert the image, its better to rerip it to the other formats, or mount the image on virtual disc drives as hey tend to read it better than some emulators

still no news of pSXauthor huh? ;_;

welp, at least No$PSX follows in the footsteps of pSXfin's no-plugin philosophy.

I uh, wanted to report some odd behavior on one of my recently bought CDs but the official pSX forums are now 100% dead, might as well dump it here and hope that someone, ANYONE is still working on the greatest emulator I've ever had the grace of using...

System Specs:

Intel Core Duo 2.40GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel 82945G GPU
OS - Windows XP SP3
pSX v1.13 with SCPH1001 BIOS

Game: "Kartia - Word of Fate" NTSC-U in both Bin/Cue and .CDZ formats.

Errors:

illegal link address 007fff18 (during ot breadcrumb cleanup)
illegal link address 007ffee8 (during ot breadcrumb cleanup)

after accessing the "Training" through the main menu the console gets FLOODED with those; however the game seems to work fine.

hmm, well this is supposed to be an original CD and it certainly looks that way but the store from where I got it IS kinda shady... I'll look into it.

Game: Kingsley's Adventures NTSC-U

Formats tried: actual CD, Bin/Cue, CDZ

Problem: freeze on the title screen...
