Hibernation problem with Windows 7

I put my PC to hibernate, but just a second after the lights and everything turned off, it automatically turned back on and Windows resumed, pretty much exactly how restart first turns the PC off and then back on (though here it's hibernating and then resuming rather then rebooting completely).

This happened out of the blue, haven't made any changes to any settings whatsoever, last night when I put it to hibernate it worked perfectly.

P.S. It isn't a BIOS or hardware issue, because when I hibernate from XP, it doesn't automatically resumes and remains off as it should.

I'm also having problems shutting down my system (though this problem is very old and started happening when I upgraded my GPU), Windows shuts down, but all the hardware components keep running at full speed as if the PC's under load. This problem always occurs when I shut down Win7, and also sometimes when I shut-down XP.

Any ideas? :???: It's really frustrating cuz whenever I want to turn off the PC properly, I have to reboot into XP, and then hibernate it. And when I want to resume activity, I first have to resume to XP, then reboot into Win7. Makes turning the PC on and off a major hassle!

What HW do you have?
Could be some driver issue.

Mine does the same thing, its because you moved the mouse after clicking hibernate :p

I've been having this problem too. It never fully goes into suspend, and I've even checked everything I could to tell them all not to wake up the PC. It's annoying having to do a full shutdown and restart every time I'm done[I don't like leaving the PC on as much anymore].
You might have a incompatible usb device, or Hybrid sleep enabled.

Maybe he just have a crappy laptop that's all. I don't have any issue with Windows 7 on my notebooks.

Plus I doubt Dax's Gigabyte P45 classifies as a "crappy mobo"
