I don't know if this is the right board to post this in. But I would appreciated a link ( links ) to new GeForce FX demos.
I saw at gamespot that they have them but it is only for members.
Thanks in advance !

I know! Imagine what games will be looking like in another 10 - 15 years probably so real we wont even be able to tell the difference between reality and virtual reality!

I just watched the video I posted and It is 1 hour and 30 minutes long and it shows demos from Dawn, Toys, that Monster thing and also from the upcoming everquest 2. I must say I am amazed!

The demos will probably be available for download when the GeForce FX is released. The demos really show what a floating-point pipeline can do for graphics, especially color accuracy. Games based on DX9 cards like the GeForce FX and Radeon 9700 are going to look amazing.

Demigod, Since you seem to really be into the whole graphic card scene, do you know any around dates to when the Geforce FX is gonna be released?

Currently the GeForce FX is scheduled for February 2003

I can only hope the demo works on ATI cards;). The Radeon 9500/9700 should have the capability to render it, I just hope it doesn't do some vendor checking crap.

We barely have games that use DX8 abilties let alone DX9. When was the last time you saw Pixel shading used extensively in a game? Morrowind comes to mind, but mainly on the water effect. A few other games that lived for about a week when the GF3 came out like Balistics, and Dronez. However it is all part of the progression, just like when T&L was big news and few games used it. Within a year or so every game release was using it on cards that had better T&L hardware. Same will have to happen with Vertex/Pixel shading, and it will, but not as quicly as T&L did.

Edit: <--- look, post # 400 neat.

DX 9.0 is much more programmable and easier for developers to use than DX 8.0. The Pixel And Vertex shaders are actually floating point rather than fixed liked DirectX 8.0 cards.

I actually imagine DX 9.0 is gonna quantom leap DX 8.0. I think the DX 8.0 generation was almost a joke as its pixel shaded and vertex shading was a joke IMO. Never really met its full use and I doubt it ever will due to the difficulty of programming fixed vertex shading and pixel shading applications.
