I meant that Final Fantasy was pretty much the only franchise that remains semi-exclusive to Sony. Of course that can be taken to mean all the other Square games, such as Kingdom Hearts, Tales of Destiny, Xenosaga, and whatever else Square makes. However, it must be noted that Square is ALSO making games for GameCube now.

Dragon Quest VIII - Still in the air, as I said.

Final Fantasy XI - Square has said repeatedly that they need to make it across ALL platforms. I am assuming this means an Xbox version as well, but it is yet to be announced in any way. Square has said that they are currently making two GameCube games. I am assuming that one of those is FFXI. It's the only one that makes sense.

Grandia - Unfortunately, I know ZERO about this game.

Skies of Arcadia - The GameCube version will be out LONG before the PS2 version.

Suikoden - Another game I know zero about.

Arc the Lad - Never heard of it.

Star Ocean 3 - I HOPE this game comes to GameCube. Sorry for forgetting this one. I really would have mentioned it had I remembered it.

That about covers it eh?

Gah, there is no point in doing a battle to the death with lists of Japanese RPGs, especially when quite a few of the Japanese titles (Tokimemo... :( But why is it on the RPG list? :p) won't be released elsewhere. Just leave it at both the GC and the PS2 will get their fair share of RPGs at some point down the road.

In the close future,GameCube will be THE system to get,and even if Sony wants to strike back sooner than expected with its PS3,I think it will fail, because of the fact that the PS3 will be much more multimedia oriented thatn the PS2 already is,which means it will be a computer looking like a console :D (Xbox anyone?)

IF you have tons of times and tons of money, buy a ps2 since it has so many good games. Besides that, u can invest the money that u have nowhere to spend on the ps2 games ;)

I am a poor guy with little times left for gaming, so if i were u, i will buy a gamecube, buy one game, and enjoy the game for atleast one month, and then save some money, search for another game, then play it for another one month.

p/s Yes, i play one game every one or two months now, i don't care how much games or how few games a console has, since i don't have money to buy them and don't have times to enjoy all of them :p

I happen to like the X-Box and what it has to offer, particularly its online plans. I aslo like the Game Cube and what it has to offer, being it's first party titles and its rpg's. PS2 really doesn't have anything going for it except some of its rpg's. Why anyone would want to buy an outdated, underpowered, pile of junk like the PS2 is beyond me. I happen to be one of the unlucky few who has experienced what we might call a "problem" with it. Namely scratched discs, unreadable dvd's and PS2 games. As of right now Sony has done nothing but let me down time and time again. Oh and the kicker is, (drum roll please) Sony denies everything. What a company folk's. And how is it that Microsoft is the supreme evil and Sony can get away scott free with crap like this? It blows my mind.

I know some of you fanboys are going to say "But Mr. GameMakerJon, look at all the great games like FFX and MGS 2." Yeah what about them? Sorry but if that's Square's idea of a good rpg, then I would love to know what they were smokin, cause i could sure use some right now. And as far as MGS2 goes? First off it's comin to the xbox and pc. Second, I dont hand over fifty dollars for every lame, rehashed pile of junk. The story was weak, the plot was weak, and it offered no true innovations over the first game (which I happened to have enjoyed).

Now lets look at whats coming in the future. Hmmm...... a few RPG's, an action title or two. Oh look FFXI....Yay, lets all pitch in together and buy a modem so I can pay 50 bucks for the game and ten more a month, just to play it. Lovely. Nintendo has almost every single one of its franchises getting an update on the Gamecube, plus some strong 3rd party support as pointed out by Ninja. So I say go with a Gamecube cause the PS2 is done.

That's said, okay done.....

If anyone has a PS2 okay fine and dandy, He'll enjoy it for the years to come. Good games are coming on it. Now the question is which is the console to buy right now.

Depends on your taste. As I and Ninja have discussed it many a times, besdies RE there isn't even a single title on GC that appeals to me. Either I am not getting good coverage on the internet or all the gaming websites have been paid by Sony or whatever.

Keeping fanboyism aside, PS2 is a great deal for 200$ now. Call it crappy but u'll get a DVD player, for ppl like me who rarely watch movies, this was a great thing, also you'll get a PS1 for free. Besides this the games of PS2 aren't as bad as being ranted here.
I have a really unique taste of gaming. I like quick games with no lenght and story and PS2 have these in more than excess. TM, WWE, Crciket, GTAs, etc.

As for the adventure games, well I haven't seen FFx as of yet and neither I am interested in MGS2. I haven't even touched MGS1. I have never played an FF game as of yet. I usually don't play long games, but the all time hits like RE series and Deus Ex made me play a few long games. So there u have Devil may cry (1 and 2) and RE CVX (which I haven't played yet). After reading previews, I found out that Silent Hill 2 and 3 are going to be good subtitutes for RE on PS2. Also rumours are that GTA is going PS2 exclusive.

Then onto the fighting section. Besides the old DOA2, we have Tekkens and Virtua Fighters, and this genre is appealing to me. A good fighting game, Soul Calibur 2 is coming on GC, and so it is also on PS2. Any fighting for GC?

Then last but not the least, WWE. The WWe games I saw on Xbox(Raw) and Gamecube( Wrestlmania X8) are absolutely nothing as compared to the PS2s Smackdown4 (Suplex from the top of the ladder onto the table on the outside, awesome stuff) and also Smackdown 4 is exclusive to PS2. Also Smackdown JBI is another awesome game.

As far as GC is concerned, nope, I haven't seeen the real thing as these haven't arrived here yet. By the time they come here I'll pick up one for sure as I am no fanboy. But the only games accompanying it will be the REs.

For multiplatform games, yup others do look better than PS2 for sure. No doubt. But this doesn't mean that the ones on PS2 look bad, I say "Why argue over the best when u can have Damn good?"

Alright, I am now going to keep listing games (that I hate), until I find one that you like other than Resident Evil. I know that the GameCube has plenty of software for all types of gamers, I just need to find exactly what it is that you like to play. How about some of these?

Fighting

Bloody Roar: Primal Fury
Capcom Vs. SNK 2: EO
Super Smash Brothers Melee (A great game I must add)
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
Virtua Fighter Quest
X-Men: Next Dimension
UFC: Throwdown
Rocky

Wrestling

Legends of Wrestling
WWF WrestleMania X8
WWE Crush Hour

What other genres are you interested in? Here's mainly what there is for fighting and wrestilng.

Capcom Vs. SNK 2: EO is 2D and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is gonna be on PS2, rest can't live up to the quality of Tekken4.

For wrestling...Already told u about WrestlmaniX8 that it sux compared to Smackdown on PS2, Legend of wrestling is a stupid game and its sequel is on the PS2 too, then Crush Hour, WWE car combat game is also on PS2.

Got more? RE is the best and I say that RE defines the GC.

I was just watching footage from the new 007 game. It looks very interesting. Hopefully it will be better than Agent Under Fire (too easy, kind of short)

Anyway, here's another genre I know you like.

Racing

XG3 Extreme G Racing
Smuggler's Run: Warzones
Ridge Racer (tentative name)
Smashing Drive
NASCAR Thunder 2003
NASCAR Heat 2: Road to the Championship
Mario Kart GCN
Burnout 2
Burnout
Donkey Kong Racing
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2

Capcom vx SNK 2 is supposed to have new features for GCN, such as a new GCism fighting style.

Now, as for Wrestlemania X8, I really can't comment with any intelligence, since I have never picked up a wrestling game in my life. Yet this is what IGN has to say about it.

Really, the grapple system and speed of X8 is where its appeal lies. It feels a lot like the previous N64 titles from THQ and this is a very good thing. Ametuers can jump right into the game with results, and seasoned veterans have enough to explore with special moves and reversals. That said, we're still highly anticipating X8 for its upcoming June release. It's exclusive to GameCube and something all wrestling fans should keep an eye out for.
Sounds decent to me. And it's exclusive. Here's a few screens.

Poof, that's exactly what it is "Sucka" :D

U know nothing about WWE, so I won't rant here.

NFS will be on PS2, rest aren't that good.

For WWE, IGN SUX at WWE. They give Raw 9.1 and Smackdown 8.x They r stupid. They don't know what WWE fans want.

Giving a Rock bottom through two tables, cool; that's smackdown!

capcom vs snk 2 for GC will have an easier mode...I dunno if it will have other changes. Seems the GC is starting to get quite good in the racing department as well!

I decided to get a second opinion on IGN's article. Planet GameCube has this to say:

Basically, I’m really disappointed with Wrestlemania X8, and I think a lot of other people are going to be disappointed when they try out their copy next month. Smackdown 4 offers better visuals on many aspects, just as many modes and arenas (if not more), and a full fledged storyline. And Smackdown 4 won’t even be a very good game.
I stand corrected. It seems that there isn't much in the way of wrestling yet. Hopefully that will be fixed with time. N64 was always good at wrestling, and I hope that's something carried over to GCN. (even though I hate the games.)
