Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus for PlayStation 2, an action adventure game based on the universe of Final Fantasy VII. This game is a part of the company's Compilation of Final Fantasy VII strategy, which pursues polymorphic vision.

The main character of this game is Vincent Valentine from FFVII, a powerful gunner who born on October 13, he was put into a long sleep, atoning for past sins; until Cloud woke him up in the Shinra mansion in Nibelheim.

Chrono, I've come to terms with it. I went through some stages.

1st stage: I hated it...was mad.. dispised everything I knew was the genre rpg.

2nd stage: scared, I was afraid this would ruin some of my more favorite memories of rpgs..

3rd stage: More hatred

4th stage: Sadness, that square is a jerk and they stole my favorite toy

5th stage: Forgiveness and tired, i've become tired of fighting it. I might as well just shut up and enjoy it. It's the only choice i got...

I wouldn't be surprised if Square has a few members of the DMC team working with them. Just wouldn't surprise me anymore.

In the picture it says it's projected to be released in 2005, that would be in Japan I believe.

A new game featuring Vincent from Final Fantasy VII is currently under development at Square-Enix. According to Weekly Jump Magazine, Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII will take place roughly one year after Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and is set to be released sometime next year.

A part of the FFVII compilation project, Dirge of Cerberus will be the third expansion to the FFVII world, after the Advent Children sequel and Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, an online prequel game for mobile phones. - Source Gamespot

Actually yes, they get a percentage. Also, the charcter creators get a small percentage. I remember about 5-6 years ago the large uproar a few companies, square being one had over theyre properties being turned in H-products. Now, square is allowing it and even help producing it.

lol, Don't you know how many pervs are here? *cough* kirby *cough*

I'm not sure about this, too much FF VII might kill the magic of the seires.
What magic? Since FF7 I've only felt that "magic" and enjoyed one of the 4 FF games... and that was FF9, which plenty of people despise. I thoroughly hated FF8, and while FFX and X-2 both were good games, I didn't think they were great. There were enough things that annoyed me about them that they didn't really have that indefinable charm or "magic" that separates good or very good games from GREAT games.

I feel basically the same way, except not exactly on the 5th stage. I'll try to shut up, but I won't necessarily enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I'll be happy if Advent Children or this game turn out to be cool, but unlike alot of fanboys I'm not looking forward to it, I'm dreading it, cause I thought FF7 was great as is, and I actually LIKE open endings.

Another thing, I'm at the point where I've played so many console RPG's, that I'm not really so eager about playing them anymore. People talk about the stagnation of gameplay in lots of genres, in particular in PC gaming, but THE most stagnant genre is the FF-style console RPG... yet no one seems to mind, in fact, alot of the fans simply can't get enough! Seriously, except for the obvious graphic/sound/FMV changes, and some minor tweaks in battle engine from game to game, there hasn't been much change in the last 20 years. To many it would be blasphemy, but I don't care if they take an FF character and put them in a non-RPG game... at least if they do it WELL. If they make this game into a Devil May Cry type game, but do it really well, then I'll love it... a good game is a good game.
