Final Fantasy Tactics Audio Problem

Hello everyone, I thought about playing FFT again but this time in my computer.

I have a decently fast machine so it shouldn't be a problem.

In final fantasy tactics the sound is very choppy, although the music is fine. It's only when you move the arrow in menus, and when people talk, the sound gets very weird.

I've tried so far Eternal SPU 1.41 and PEOpS Audio Driver 1.9

None of them seem to make the sound sound the way I want.

I've tried the game on psX and the sound goes just fine there but the image is horrible, so I'd like to stick to ePSXe if possible.

Anyone knows a fix?

Thanks in advance

Hey, Imagus. I had this same exact problem for about four or five days now. I got frustrated with it quite a bit, until I found this site. I did a search on the problem, and in a very recent post, this problem is addressed and fixed:

http://forums.ngemu.com/problems-games/95558-no-sound-fmv-videos.html

It's way easier than you'd think. Just go into the Sound configuration and check the third box. Has nothing to do with anything else, as long as your video's runnin' appropriately. Personally, I prefer Auto-detect FPS (the place where you have 60.0 FPS chosen). Anyway, this is almost definitely what your problem is, since I had the same exact problem, and checking off that third box helped everything (FMV music and no echo-y sound from cursor movements, etc.)

I went through all the stickies, too--didn't find this problem addressed. Unless I completely missed it, I'd recommend adding this to that sticky, since many people seem to be having the problem, at least lately.

If hte problem's been fixed (or even if it hasn't) do you mind if I ask what glslang files you're using? Because you got so many filters on..I imagine the game looks a little blurry. I made this for another forum giving an example of HQ3x vs no filtering (for someone who was telling me that 2xSai and Screen Smoothing made it too blurry -- and they're right...it does -- so I wanted to show them the benefits of a good filtering option).

I don't know if you managed to fix this on your own, but the best sound settings for Final Fantasy Tactics that I have found for ePSXe are these:

Eternal's SPU 1.41
Audio Out Method: Set to SPUasync
Async mode: Set to Smooth

Everything else at default. If your sound is skipping, you could try raising the buffer size a little bit as well, but too much will cause sync issues so be careful. It works *almost* perfectly with these settings, but PSx Emulator seems to still be a bit better if you can get over the poor visual quality (although, even the video on PSx has some benefits over ePSXe. I just finished playing FFT on my laptop and I chose PSx as my emulator for this very reason).
