I also have single core cpu (amd athlon 3200+, right now- 2024 mhz) and pcsx works really good for me. I think that's because I have "clean" computer(disc)...and my processor is not loaded with other programms, bugs etc, etc

No, you don't. You just need to buy dual core CPU. When I think I was considering to get X2 4200. Instead I bought single core AMD 3500. Dual core just looked like an wasted investment at a time. Even today there aren't that much apps that take advantage of a dual core. Oh well, I'll wait a little longer and get myself AM2.
P.S. mvntsdc: Or was that sarcasm?

Whoa wait a minute! I was reading this topic and saw a post that said HT technology is pathetic!? Well let me throw an example towards you on how it is really not. We all know TES4 game correct? I am running the specs below, and let me tell you the difference of when I configured it to use the HT technology.

-=Specs=-
P4 3.0 GHZ w/ HT
2.5 GB DDR Ram @ 333 MHZ
GeForce 6800 GT OC (OCed by BFG Tech)
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Value

Okay, so I decided to run some tests when the game first came out. Here were my first FPS rates.

Outside: 5-15 FPS
Inside: 10-30 FPS

Now, I decided to go into the config file and activate the settings to take advantage of my HT technology on my CPU.

Outside: 20-40 FPS
Inside: 20-30 FPS

Now, the inside rooms did not jump too much however, this is because the outside areas are MUCH more complicated. There was a recognizable boost in preformance there. So tell me again that HT technology is useless!

Note - Settings were on the default detected options set by the Oblivion configuration program. Only the HT settings were changed between tests and a reboot was done before both tests. No other processes except the windows essentials were running.

P.S. I'm sure that when PCSX2 hit's version 2.0.0 or perhaps 3.0.0 that single cores may actualy have a fighting chance! Why? Intel Core 2 Extreme, and it will probably be cheaper by then. :D

We're not giving up on single core / HT, it's just single core HT gave up on us :p

So Pentium D users et al probably will never see a significant fps jump in the near future, it seems. Oh well!

bit late in posting this but after the full project is at a point where it can play all the games, sound, videos then te team will bringdown its asking rate ...

time for single cores to wait probably 1 -11/2 yrs if the [progrres made by them now is maintained

Naw, eventually there will be no such thing as a 'core' it will all be 'cells'. Computers will no longer rely on a *Central* Processing Unit, instead they will share the computing load across all available devices connected through optic-wire or wireless networks. At first these 'cells' will be generalized, but in the far-future networks of cells will agregate to form specialized units capable of doing a small set of tasks very efficiently, these will be called 'organelles'. Eventually, these networks of cells and organelles will form even more complex 'lifeforms' capable independent thought and action. If anyone here lives long enough to see that day, maybe PCSX2 will run at full speed, lol ;)
