FF VI remains the best FF IMO. Chrono Trigger is an excellent game, but I find FF VI to better out of the three.
I completely agree with you. Anyway, I don't think our opinion is shared by a lot of people here, considering the results of the poll.

FFVI was the game that really hooked me into RPGs. I'd played Phantasy Star II before, but FF beats it hands down.

But where's FF8? :rolleyes:
Very, very far away, I hope :rolleyes:

Seriously, FF8 made me lose a lot of respect and interest for FF games. I was something of a fanboy back then. After FF8 I saw that FF games are not gods among RPGs :lol:

In the trash can, where it belongs. Where else did you expect that major PoS to be?

Hah, Sakura Taisen adepts have matched FFVI adepts in quantity... eat that Boltzmann! :evil:

Good, good... on more deception with FFs and you will be ready to join the Anti-Squaresoft brigade....

Bah, Sakura Taisen means nothing to me, it has no FF characters. You guys are deluded :p :joke:

Well, not really. I judge games based on their individual merits. Even though I loathed FF8, I had a good time with FF9. And I still think that FF7 is a great game.
And FFVI is still teh FF to me :p
The incident with FF8 just proved that I was never a true fanboy. True fanboys never say that a game of the series (or company, or whatever) that they worship is bad.

i thought more people would have liked ff6. nice to see people know better. :p
i'd vote for sakura taisen now, just to put ff6 dead last.

as much as i love FFVI, i vote for FFVII.

I want to know why many people hated FF8? I liked the story. But the last disc wasnt so great. The battle system i thought was the best.

The Junction system was a mess. It was annoying as hell to have to draw all the bloody time, and you couldn't use magic lest you weaken your characters. The plot was not particularly surprising in any respect and the main character was a total wanker.

Sakura Taisen suxxors! :D *ducks*

Seriously, from the three listed my vote goes for CT. It has very likeable characters, an interesting "Back to the Future"-style story. It also has a better battle system IMO, I loved all those combo techs. :)

I think pretty much all FF8 characters are annoying. Laguna's the only exception I can think of.

Heck, just for fun..and cause I like to start contro's..

...."Legend of Dragoon" rules the FF world....

(hmm I even spoke like a fool, fun.)

Laguna an exception? :lol:

He's the same as Squall, just look at the part in the pub when he walks to Julia.
/ouch, my leg
:p

The only thing that i really liked in FF8 is the GF system particulary becouse they lvl up.

Sakura Taisen doesn't feature:
* FF characters (read: Teenagers with ubber retard behaviors).
* Ultra gifted women (read: boobs, mini leather skirts, etc) with either zero or awfully dumb personality.
* Chocobos.
* Lack of innovation.
* Stolen concepts.
* Magic.
* Squall Lionheart (or any other punk who wants to fake he is a badass when in reality he is the biggest sissy ever for that matter).
* The same boring characters in different skins.
* Boring level up systems (read: materia system, junction system, etc).
To be continued...

Sakura Taisen lacks all the above mentioned points when compared to Final Fantasy games...

That's why I like the series (Sakura Taisen) so much... ;)

FFIX was a really good game but when compared to productions such as FFIV, FFVI or FFVII you realize it is nothing but a mediocre game. With really untied knots, characters not fully developed and a plot which was not finished or at the very least polished.

Four votes to Sakura Taisen now... and only one of them belongs to me... :evil:

Worry not, you will have plenty of time to dwell on the real definiton of the word "suck" once I send you on your private trip to the bottom of the ocean... and since I kind of like you I'll let you choose, what vessel would like? A Potato's bag, a garbage can or... you have the choice of picking the surprise vessel!

Laguna bearable? The only bearable character I can think of was that fat guy who travelled with Laguna... can't remember his name but he certainly was the best. "Why" you ask? He didn't talk...

errr...this would be a hard one for me because in short I really cant compare FF7 and FF6 because of a few factors:

1. Totally different systems
2. CGI was used in FF7 which obviously along with psx graphics makes ff7 look better
3. If FF6 was redone with as much effort in graphics as ff7 was..i think it would give ff7 a run for its money
4. Replay value was good for both imho. They both had customizing attributes..and where FF7 got 3 disks..FF6 at the time could only consume all of one cartridge so...

Like I said i cant compare the two really but Id put FF6 in for all around story and FF7 for all around "coolness"

Why the stolen concepts?
I don't think you are completely right on the 'dumb personality' thing. Some characters have a good personality. Though I've never played a Sakura Taisen game, so I can't compare.

I have to agree with you on FFIX :) Btw, what's you opinion on FFV's job system? IMHO it's the best there is, does Sakura Taisen have one like that? :p

Hehe, you mean fat man Ward ;)

Final Fantasy: Dirk of Cerberus comes to mind...

I didn't intend to be right... of course that there are characters with personality, namely most of the cast from FFIV, FFVI, Aerith from FFVII and Vivi and Kuja from FFIX... I may be missing some but overall they are the lesser... mediocrity is more prolific... if you don't believe me just take a look at FFVIII or FFIX's remaining cast.

FFV's job system was superb... too bad they forgot a decent plot and characters along the way... though to be fair FFT was great both gameplay and plot wise.

Yeah... a character who couldn' speak amongst lousy troubled teens... definitely FFVIII's best character.

Well Kaiser ofcourse FF is bad if you take away all the good parts, from VII to X-2, great FMV's, lot's of eye candy, great graphic ( atleast it was great during the time of release ) and good music. ( the gameplay is bad though there is no denying it and the plot well.... )

As for the earlier I-VI: All of these except five acctually had a good plot, and good music. Five had a good battle system instead. As for three, this game had the job system and the gameplay was acctually quite fun, it might very well be the best FF, too bad so few people played it.

Thanks, with that post you just have made entirely my point about shallow gamers... :lol:
