FF8 Keeps crashing

So, I wanted to start playing FF8 again for nostalgia's sake. Started the game but ended up having it crash just as the game got to the classroom at the beginning (after the FMV and such). Managed to bypass that with another emulator and save after that point and it seemed good for a bit, but the errors keep happening. At first it was just very seldomly and I thought that maybe it was because I was hitting the fast forward too often, but now it just keeps happenings constantly. I can barely run more than 2 screens away from the save point. It's not the ISO/CUE getting corrupted, I replaced them with a clean one, since I all of them backuped up.

I took a screenshot of the error, as far as I can tell, they're all this same one:

Hope someone can help me with this, and thanks in advance.

Couldn't try a new dump. Have no way to do that anymore since replacing my laptop. ROM did work fine with my epsxe (which I used to use before I started using duckstation) though, at least it did to bypass the first spot this kept happening on. I would have thought if it was a bad dump it would error out for all emulators.

By which file, do you mean the ROM?

I dont know what to say since you bypass which should be done that for duckstation. This game work fine on duckstation. Absolutely fine. Nothing is wrong with duckstation. Thats your game. Maybe a corruption somehow.

Well, I guess the only answer I'll get is what all my friends on Discord said: Use another emulator.

Also, I never said that the game doesn't work with the emulator in general, just that I was having a specific issue where it keeps coming up with the error shown in the screenshot.

The reason I tried the bypass initially, was because the error seemed to be localized to that one exact point in the game. I used the bypass of playing the game past that point in another emulator until I could get to an in-game save point hoping that it would be the only point that duckstation seemd to be having a problem with. It did work at first, allowed me to progress further and play for several hours. But now it has gotten to the point where I just have to walk X distance from the save point before it happens.

I'd love to try it with a fresh dump, or even just a different dump, do see if that resolves the problem, if I could.

Edit: Also, I just checked and the android version of duckstation does play that very same dump without any problems so far. Got past the first error point without issue at least in my testing.

Many people at Discord doesnt mean they know everything about it. For your sake.

I test it on my PC with the latest update of Duckstation and DirectX redist as well as bios are needed. Without bios can be done but the compatibility might be low. No errors at all. This works for me just fine:

Well, the error starts just past the hallway walk that you posted once you get into the classroom just as Quistis walks to her desk, but I'm sure it went fine for you. I'm not actually doubting that it is working fine for you.

Could it just be something with my settings maybe that's causing an error? Only thing I haven't actually tried atm is a clean install of duckstation.

I could try that, or just post any settings that you might think are relevant to see if that solves the issue

I did download the redist and actually installed it, so it must have needed updating. It didn't solve the issue though, but at least it was something.

Edit: So I did make a change. I was using D3D12 before and I noticed yours was D3D11 so I tried that. Got past the bugged point in the classroom no problem! That may've been the issue then, that something in D3D12 was not agreeing with the game, maybe?

Yeah, perhaps. You can always contact Duckstation developer through github to find the answer to your issues for D3D12. I personally used both but this is for D3D11. I dont complain as long as it works ok. LOL.
