it's great the time between the releases is smaller although i waited to see a few things on epsxe:

1 - a GUI like dolphin where i could see all my games in one place

2 - saving of windows/dialog boxes position

3 - all the latest plugins packed with the emulator (unless Pete and other plugins devs are against it)

4 - all those test buttons dont make sense, i dont see how they can be useful, then cant even be used to test the stuff that comes embedded in the emulator.

That...was unexpected, but very welcome! Will try out now! :D Wonder how the internal sound plugin fares on Square Enix games ;)

Thanks, I like EpsxE.

Final Fantasy IX....it sounds beautiful on the default sound plugin....! The sound effects.....wow. They fixed them, will do more testing, but they sound amazing. It really has come a long way :)

Yeah, the games sound helluva lot better on the default audio plugin. There's still the slight occasional crackling, but not as bad.

Edit: Nope, the occasional crackling is bad, but pressing F1 or F3 fixes it. Still, better than the last version.

Nope, no complaints from me, the sound plugin is a huge improvement!

Rumble is still a no go. I will stick with 1.8 until shark is updated so pokopom can work.

saving to the registry isn't a bad idea IMHO
It's no good at all, because it breaks portability and a failsafe gpu plugin is included now in the first place (drive assignment is only an issue if you set a default one manually rather than mandate selection of one everytime you load a game).

Plus, it prevents 2 separate copies from existing on a single Windows install,as the most recently used copy will keep overwriting the others' settings (say one for you and one for your brother), unless other users of your computer are running their own user account. The issue isnt limited to registry binding but also covers emus that save their files in My docs rather than remain fully selfcontained in their folder wherever it is (since when you copy the emu, you actually forget everything meaningful behind like saves, savestates and so on, completely breaking portability).

Not to mention it fills the registry up with useless junk and slows it down and as a result the whole system. It really is a terrible idea.

I take back what I said ROFL. I'm careful what I install, and my system runs just fine, but what can we, the users do, to convince the ePSXe to not make their emulator save to the registry. Surely, we can't make them think otherwise, can we? I wish they had a Google code page or Git Hub.

Maybe I'll make another thread and report this as an issue or feature request, if that's not an issue ;)

No it doesn't. Applications use pathing in the registry. they don't search through the entire thing until they find their matching values.

It still adds more paths then which still slows it down. It's much better for software to use it's own settings file either in it's own folder or one of the User appdata folders. Perhaps it's slightly slower for the software itself but it's faster overall.

Can we somehow contact the devs and have them fix this? I have no idea why they opted to do registry-based storing.

I assume they use the registry because it's faster to search/access than a settings file.
And look the effect on the system is absolutely minute, you'd never notice it if it was the only thing cluttering up the registry, but it's still a stupid idea.

Yeah, it is, but there's no way in hell we can make them change their minds AFAIK. :p Unless someone has a good idea on how to approach them.

Just gave 1.9.0 a go and it seems like 1.8.0, not a bad thing but I see no improvements on my end. What I did notice that was new were a couple of new folders, config, idx, isos, what are these folders and what are they used for?
Not really sure, but I think there's an ISO folder now. Plus the Internal sound plugin is a lot better than before, even Square Enix games sound normal. I'd say it's on par with Shalma's version of DSound 1.10, and nothing has to be configured, plus some broken games now work. I'm just glad they're still working on it.

just d/l and tried 1.9.0 and still find i have the same problem as 1.8, window keeps minimizing and have to continually hit escape and then continue where the sides get glitchey. besides that i find 1.9 very welcomed.
Are you pressing Alt+ F4, escape or pressing the X on the window. Esc is the best way to close. ePSXecutor is another good program

They look on these forums and view feedback from here. They've told me a few times to report whatever I find to their email address. Maybe ya'll can make a thread here in that section and all comment about it and maybe they will change it. They are pretty nice. Or each of you could request it through their email for feedback. But of course be decent about it.

Oh yeah, I remember when I was doing ABX tests for their sound plugin, and from my recent tests on 1.9.0, the internal plugin has come a long way (and it is very impressive all things considered), but yeah, they're very nice guys from what I remember. :D I see no problem with making a thread to propose this issue.
