Hi there. I'm a bit of a noob to the emulator scene; I have a little experience using PCSX2 and downloaded ePSXe because I wanted to play some old games, in particular Final Fantasy IX.

My problem is that I keep getting a black screen upon attempting to Run the CD-ROM. I can run bios, no problem, but any attempts to run FFIX are stymied.

I'm using a Samsung Q310 laptop, which has an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor running at 2.2GHz, 4GB of RAM, an nVidia GeForce 9200 graphics card and a Vista OS.

The configuration I'm currently running is Pete's Soft Driver 1.18 for the GPU, the Internal ePSXe SPU and the Internal ePSXe W2K CDR. Any and all advice is much appreciated! Hope it's not too noobish a question.

pcsx2 doesn't run psx games.

and enable subchannel data in the epsxe cdr plugin.

Oh I know that. didn't mean to imply that it did, I've been using PCSX2 to run Playstation 2 games like Dynasty Warriors. Tried the subchannel data thing, but I still seem to be getting a black screen? Should I try uninstall/reinstall?

hmm, the subchannel reads should really work on all modern dvd-rw drives. the only instance i know they fail is because the drive can't actually read the disk.

can you enable the logging window and screenshot it? that should tell us whether the disk is being read correctly.

That's more or less what we're looking at here. The funny thing is, I have enabled the subchannel read... Not sure what's going on.

By the by, sorry for the double post.

what kind of dvd/cd drive do you have?

ah, you'll have to rely on peops cd plugin and create a M3S file, CDVD drives typically don't support proper subchannel reading.
