Hi guys!

I have a problem with Dragon Quest 8 and pcsx2.

The problem is that the game doesn't let you choose your own language, instead it automatically select the language configured in the BIOS.

On my own ps2 this works allright, but in pcsx2, I setup BIOS with italian lang, but the game just ignores it and either keeps booting in English (if I choose "Run cd/dvd) or (if I choose run->execute) the emu reaches the memcard/dvd browser and won't go any further (if I click on the cd/dvd icon in the browser it just reloads the browser).

Can anyone help me??

Well, games won't choose their language depending on bio's options, I believe certain games like that are "MULTI5" And allow you to select at the start, so if you bought the game from your local store, it should be that, I mean, it boots into Italian on your PS2, right?

Is Italian selected in your PCSX2 options? Up top, I mean.

yes... that only changes the emu interface language I think.

Well... I'll just play it in eng I think...

EDIT: Got it working!

It seems the problem was with my console's bios (v9) o_O

I dumped my friend's v12 one just to try if it made any difference, and it workz like a charm now...

Thx anyway for the help, and propz to Refraction and all the devs... the game really runs like a charm with the new betas... finally I don't have to reach the bloody church every time I want to save :D

Your bio's should of been Italian if you're Italian...and using your friends bio's is illegal.

Save States also aren't recommended, you should save at a church every chance you get, Save States can cause corruption and crash's alot, even corrupting your PCSX2 mem card files and you have to re-make them.

well, just for everybody's information, MULTI5 games (most newer pal games) quite often accept the language from the bios. that's the whole point of setting up a language in the bios, right? only very early games have to be configured in-game or have only one language (if it's pal, us games mostly only come in english)

for example, in the pal version of San Andreas, if your bios is set in any language except english, you won't see any blood. in Vice city, the heads won't explode if you shoot 'em with a sniper rifle if your language is german.

Remember that many of the countries within the PAL regions (Europe and Australasia) speak many languages other than english. Speaking as someone who plays alot of PAL games, I`ve played a fair few games that come with language selection screens, as well as PAL/NTSC selecters.
