I have an ATI Gfx card Radeon 8500 LE 64 Megs.
For a year now I am having trouble with it.
When ever i play games , the game halts and frezes for like 5 seconds , then resumes again. This happen like 10 time when I am playing any game.
I tried out changing game congfigurations and stpped playing with any resolution higher than 640x480 and at medium details, as I found out that the number of freezes is at minimum in that resolution.
I am always updating my drivers, and what's killing me as that all the games have support for my video card.
Does this mean that my Gfx card is damage, or is it something in the AGP slot on the motherboard?
Anyways, thanks

You said "Man that is the last time I am to get an ATI card again. It will be Nvidia all the way."

That was kind of saying basically that you're never gonna go with ATi again because of yoyr experience with that card. As for compatibility issues, for every game an ATi card has issues with a nVidia card does also.

Price-wise, they are equal. You can find either cheaper than the other.

We're just saying either choice would be a good one pretty much.

I said it will be the last time, coz I want to get an Nvidia card, but where I live, Nvidia is quite pricey, more than the ATI.
So, If I couldn't afford the Nvidia card, I will get an ATI.
I DON'T HATE ATI, just wanted to make it clear.

Ok I got a new pc
Still the same friggin' problem.
I ask anyone who has the same card, does this crap happen to you?
Coz I think that the card is seriously damaged. Now all game i play are ata resolution of 640x480 and no or low details, and still hangs!!!
What could I do? And all money is gone a the pc
I have nothing anymore.

get a new graphics card man! that card is like as old as my mother.

get a radeon 9600 or something, itll be way better than what you got now.

but on the chance it isnt that, check your hard drive, it could be your hard drive is on its way out if its reading during the pauses

That's the problem with ATi crapics cards. j/k
Uh... try underclocking your GPU.
Is vSync disabled?

#34 ·
Try selecting cutom and forcing vsync off

what drivers are you using?

when does it hang is it a straight just frezze or does the screen blank out?

turn off VPU recover and see if you get a BSOD if you do tell us what it says

my best guess is the card is overheating

Basiclly the game just freezes for like 3 seconds, the blacks out, and then the game contiues normally.
Tried to disable vpu recover, but the whole pc halted, and I had to reboot the pc.
It didn't give me any messages
I am using the catalyst 4.12
I think too that the card is overheating.

Try using OMega Drivers , there Good modded drivers. www.omegadrivers.net

first use a tool called Driver cleaner which u can get from www.driverheaven.net. and clean ur HD of the drivers u are using after u do a uninstall. do this in safe mode then reboot .

then install the Omegadrivers.

Turn off Vsyc it can hurt u with it being on since it locks the fps at ur refresh rate. and can hurt ur fps.

Could the problem I am having because of The fan on the card?
If I change it, will there be a difference.
The thing is that I am thinkng of change, but the problem, is that my card is just to damn powerful, than anyother card, in the 9200 series, even powerful than the 9600 128 mb SE, not the pro.
What should I do.
