Yep deffinetly make sure you patch to ver1.1 and copy all the audio from the play cd to your hdd. This way the game wont lock up when the cdrom is trying to access some sounds. I run at 1024 x 768 x 32bit. This gives me slowdown wot so ever. I'm guessing with your card you would be able to get 1024x768 but i dont know if your cpu will bottleneck your system. 800x600x32 should run fine for you.

Runs at a smooth 20fps on my p2400 320mb geforce2mx.

People complain about lagging(occassional pauses) with their highend systems, but the problem is they don't have enough ram. 128 is just the bare minimum. I have 320 sdram133 and haven't experience a single lag ever. In this game, ram does make a difference; just make sure you have enough.

my game runs smoothly on my specs, but it also runs a little slow, especially in crowded city scenes, but its playable, and not at all jerky or anything.

edit: i expect that when i upgrade my vid card it will run perfectly.

i have the game but i wanna know how to copy all the audio files to the hard disk i.e. in which folde rshould i copy the files, i have tried doing it before but it still keeps reading from the cd.
You need a NO-CD to be able to play the game with out the Play cd. They will give you instructions on how to copy the files over. I can't give you any links for odvious reasons, try doing a search on google.

quincunx ;) (only possible on gf3, 4 ti, and 4 mx cards though).

Quincunx on a G4 Mx will probably give you a lot of lag.
Anyone with low end cards that support Hardware T&L should use 3danalyzer for Gta3 to use software T&L, it makes the game run much smoother.
Also on Windows XP under the compatibility mode disable visual themes (this gives a boost of 4-5fps)
Also try running in Windows 98-ME compatibilty mode and try, it hasn't work for me yet but i have heard it helps.

Are you refering to lag as in slowdown or pauses? Generally lag refers to pauses and I don't see how anti alias can produce lag. Slowdown maybe, but not lag. I don't think you can interchange these words buddy.

BTW, that software T&L rumor is a peice crap. For one, any software rendering should be slower than hardware. That's just common knowledge, there's no exception about it, and certainly not here. That's because software rendering is done by the CPU instead of the dedicated device. This means the CPU has to work double as hard. Double the time to process something, which should in all cases makes things much slower, not faster. Believe me, I know this because I tried it myself. I went from 20 down to 10 fps. It doesn't take a genius to see what's going on.
