Was it more about what happened or who it happened to?
I love to see paranoia in America (no offence)

America has been paranoid a LONG time before that lame attack and will be LONG after everyone forgets about it and studies REAL history to learn about REAL tragedies. Though the latter half of that statement is hypothetical at best, considering no one studies history and is therefore bound to repeat his/her mistakes.

I think that it's all blown out of proportion cause it's the US. Not that it's a small thing - but just that terrible tragedies occur all over the world all the time and don't get much (media) attention. It's tough though, to vote in this poll cause it is some messed up stuff, especially considering there was no military involvement and all the thousands of people who died were all civilians.

Imo the big deal about this 9/11 thing is alright (hey, its US, cant expect less anyway), since its something big, but its wrong for the US to bomb Afghanistan just because of Osama. Sure they were people in there who were happy because the US got bombed, but they were innocents too. Wiping a whole place because of a few terrorists living in there is just wrong.
edit: gone off topic there...

Very Very Very well said! What america did was not fair at all. If that became a law then america would be the place that got bombed the most. After all there are terrorists living in america so if they're gonna bomb afghanistan for a few people whom they havent even fully proved wrong then why don't they bomb themselves because there are terrorists every where who have done such things. Heck the police force in america (and increasingly in Australia) are being rascist if thats not a crime then i don't know what is!

People get sick of it, and i am sick of people say its sorry for the US. but other people are carrying a burden as big as theirs or prolly bigger. I mean as if the people care there, some wants it to be a place where every single dead persons name is written while every other bussines men and ladies as well as prolly other people wants them to make another Twin Towers.
Sure its sad for the people lost their lives but really you can't always live in the past. US wants the world to feel sorry so they can gain more power if you ask me. Bush started out bad and would have kept being bad at his job had it not been for what happend.

I'm from the UK. We used to get bombed all the time by teh IRA. You know what the Americans did? They funded them.
I'm not saying that I don't feel sorry for those that died, but I am saying that they only say the devestation after it happened to them.

That's the irony of the situation. I live in Northern Ireland. I've seen my home town blown up twice by terrorists and witnessed a murder. Yet most of these events are forgotten. If one thing 9/11 was a blessing in disguise, because most of their funding came from sympathetic rich "irish-americans". Since that day, the funding has practically ceased, and it has helped bring more stability here if one thing.

I'm not saying it was right, far from it. I've been in that situation and I know how it feels. But retaliation is not the answer. That just leads to escalation. You want to stop terrorism? Forget about the poor brainwashed fools running around doing these unspeakable acts and go after the backers, because without support these damned fools they are nothing but a bunch of hot air.

I live in Canada. I don't know what many of you have been smoking, but the attacks on 9/11 were attacks made on civilians of many nations (Not JUST America), in an attempt to make a statement about how the US should not protect other countries.

The US does the job that nobody else wants to do. They stand for World Peace. The UN was America's idea, and when there's a UN resolution, it's ALWAYS the US who get to do the dirty work, and they take all the blame for any accidents that might occur.

What happened on 9/11 was a serious tragedy, and it wasn't just to America. It was mass murder, pure and simple.

Thx, ninja. I live about 30 minutes from ground zero in NJ, so all the malaysian hypcrites should shut their ignorant mouths. One of my earliest childhood memories is of being in the towers with my father, in his office. Most people from other countries dont quite realize that terrorists killed innocent people. For christ's sake, it could have been my father in there! HE works elsewhere in NYC, but i have an uncle who did as of 9/11. He came into work late that day, and he lost 4 close personal friends. It really isnt the terrorists that piss me off as much as normal people who are ignorant

I think that their should be a dedicated day to remember all the victims of terroism.

Smaller things (compared to 9/11) should be remembered too, like Omagh (sp?) and the recent troubles in Spain.

Decoy_Octopus said that 'Most people from other countries dont quite realize that terrorists killed innocent people.'
The point of terroism is to target the innocent people.

All terrorist attacks are serious, whatever the death toll.

I feel very sorry for all of those poor people who died in the Towers, while they were working, but I'm never gonna feel sorry for the fukin' government of the USA. Do you know that the USA refused to a treaty to reduce pollutive gas emisions during this year? The reason they gave for that was that 'reducing gas emisions would mean to reduce industrial productivity'.
Returning to the poll question, I voted for 'what has happened'. It always is a tragedy that two humongous towers with tons of people inside explode and fall and pollute... But don't you think that things must be really badly out there for ANYONE to feel the necessity of killing thousands of people because of his ideas? Where do we go from here? IMO it's not so important that those people die but the reasons for them to die... why was it? Religion? Vengeance?
