It better be a joke. I could argue that Indie games like this don't really belong on consoles
regardless, Fez is not a bad game IMO.
...but it's similar in many ways to the other Indie games of recent years, using lots of retro elements and a silly designed main character (right up there with meatboy, the vvvvvv guy and the bit trip beat ninja... I guess it's hip to design silly characters like that).
Like VVVVVV, it's designed around a certain gimmick (in VVVVVV it's the gravity element, here it is the "third dimension").
graphics are a bit of a mixed bag, IMO. some things look pretty but at the same time it tends to look like an early snes game with added rotation effects.
The graphics engine seems unoptimized. This was designed with xbox in mind, yet it has slowdown. It does not quite sport the graphics that would imply it needs to slow down to get the job done. A bit unoptimised, perhaps?
Either way, what I played so far was nice. The intro is really well done, I hope it stays entertaining like that throughout the game.
