I know why they get so hot... it's just that you'd think since we'd been to the moon for god's sake and had probes to Mars and Pluto, that in the year 2009/2010 more than 3 GHZ would be attainable at sTOCK....without risking a major fire....

Yeah there always gonna be heat, that's just a little bit of physics there for you....I know that's oversimplifying it....but it seems now that they've reached their theoretical limit and their optimum of 2.8 so to speak that their turning tails and running home to Mommy.....and instead focusing on more cores....

You realize the implications of this???? Sure someday we could have 64 or 100 cores in one chip, but it could never be brought above 4.2 or 4.5 and all because they refused to sit down and do their homework...

They just wrote down the first answer that came to them and handed in the test paper....they never held onto the paper and figured "GEE there could be an even better answer....just around the corner......"
Again, what are you comparing to?
In order for you to to say something is unreasonable and should be better you need to compared to something, to something REAL, but you have no basis for your comparison.
I can say my internet connection is unreasonable because I pay more for 512kbps and a 3GB monthly cap than people in Europe and America do for a 20MBPS uncapped connection with TV cable services included.
You however have no measuring stick, Sci-Fi is just that, ficton, fantasy, not reality, you don't get to complain because you don't have you own personal T1 Terminator to off all us "disrespectfull" youths who tell you what's what because you were never promised one, nothing remotely close even exists, ths such a expectation would be entirely unreasonable. And in that same way your expectations are entirely unreasonable.

Also those other statements are absolute BS. How do you know they have not been trying? Could Silicon not perhaps reached it's limit? Don't we perhaps need a new material we have not discovered yet?

Mankind has been researching AIDS, Cancer and other diseases, viruses and infections for well over 20 years, but still has no answer, in fact has not even begun to show the signs of having an answer yet. So don't for one second think that hardware manufacturer's don't have the answer just because they have not put in the time.

Lastly hardware is not the only limiting factor, software has it's limits as well. Even if someone gave you a 30Ghz system it's not guaranteed that PCSX2 would now run 10 times faster...in fact very little would run faster I am afraid to say because there's limits on what the code can do, and there's limits on what you can do, and then there's more and more limits.

Depends on where their priorities are.... More money these days seems to go to war.....

The human spirit is eternal, it's people's thinking that's limited....

Kits are either thrash, or far to over priced. I myself would not trust a kit regardless. Only go for water if your cock sure that you have clocked within the limit of air coolers.

Or you desire near silent computing.

If you must get a kit, stick with Danger Den and the like.

The stacker 830? It has a lot of room, I dont know about native wc support, but the space is defiantly there. Bust out you dremel and drill if you have to

the human spirit is as frail as its will.

That's not good.......

if you lay down and settle for what is, you never find out what can be...

It's been my experience that the Red Scorpion will more than do the job...

Futile attempt. Water cooling is for serious overclocking or for the "enthusiast" folks that know what they're doing :thumb:

ahem....

no applause necessary....;););)

Gameman, that's nothing special to brag about. I've seen higher clock speed on that cpu and if you wanna brag about your overclock then go to xtremesystems and compare your to them ;)

Or should i say you bragged to the wrong person =)

I am on Extreme Systems....

What do you think I grew up on The East Side??????
