Tech support was terrible. Had an old board from like 2 or 3 years ago, only issue before it was put away was the usb wouldnt work for some reason. So we tried it out since my dads pc is about to be leaving, and it wouldnt install any operationg system on it. Although for some reason it would start with an old 2gb ide drive with windows me. So we tried a bios flash which went bad somehow and look at my reply i got after a week or 2 of waiting. (which wasnt correct anyway, or even close to my problem)

Dear Valued Customer,

Sense you keept the board for solo long, Have you try to replace the CMOS battery, to see if that will solved you issue?

Had this motherboard stored since purchased(in a well kept smoke free enviroment) as to save for a back-up in case of a system failure. Just recently the time arose to pull it out and use it, and came to find that the bios had an issue and would not let any form of windows install, it wouldn't even boot from cd. So in order to try and fix the issue, an attempted bios flash with the latest bios file 060526S which restarted how it should and got to the screen to go to the bios. It gets to the bios and no matter what gets changed, when it is saved and restarted no video appears and the cmos has to be cleared in order to do the same process over and over. Never getting video after the bios and not able to get past that.

well the dos flash tools are needed, unless winflash can force the flash :\

not sure

for AWDFlash the guide here should help
Flashing AWARD BIOS's

i usually used

/CC = clear cmos data after programming
/CD = clear dmi data after programming
/CP = clear PnP (ESCD) data after programming
/PY = program flash memory
/F = use flash routines in original BIOS for flash programming
/WB = flashes the BIOS Boot Block

I found myself having to reinstall windows when i did the flash to update several of the mem ranges

once the bios is on, Ctrl+f1 or f2 unlock additional menu's

nah, it just started bsodding during startup (though that might have been caused by something else)

only a few things should need reinstalling between the Iris 8 bios and the Abit bios.

all.

the bootblock of this version is slightly changed to hold several extra settings for memory and cpu adjustment.

:) i actually disable that and let speedfan dynamically manage it lol.

hey i only signed upto this forum so i could talk to you guys but i also have a ECS Iris 8 and i used that new.7z thing to flash it and i'm really wanting to overclock my 5400+ from 2.8GHz to atleast 3GHz but in the BIOS there is no Frequency/Voltage Control!

Yes i am a beginner but can you please help me out with this? (also when i boot i have to push delete to get into the BIOS not Ctrl + F1 or F2 they do nothing)

Edit: I can take pictures of my BIOS if you really want me to...

Yeah my HD Audio is on auto and the only other option is disabled...
Just up the option that's like [200.0 mHz] like cpu bus or something it's called.
How much do you think i should put it up? i'm on 2.80GHz and i want to get 3GHz

Also whats a good way to test how fast my cpu is after i overclock

Edit: and/or check if its stable. i can download something that can tell me but it will take 7 hours because i have very slow internet and it is 600MB

Hmm maybe it's not the best overclocker. I'm running a 5000+ at 2.6 ghz and pushed it to 3.0 and nothing crashed and I can go farther
It can go beyond provided you can set more then 1.4 voltage. With mine (brisbane) 3Ghz is stable at 1.4v, you can go to 3.1 but it ain't stable on 1.4v (and unfortunately this motherboard can only go 1.4v at max).

my CPU always runs at 50-60 sometimes when under stress it goes upto 79C!

anyway i tested putting it upto 212MHz and then i loged into windows and dwm.exe crashed and shortly after i got the blue screen of death but it was running at 2.90GHz from what i saw
On AMD's till 70C there's no worry's but 79C i think that's to much ... maybe you should check the cooler, clean it and replace the thermal grease. I have a 5000+ overclocked at 3Ghz and in heavy loads it goes up to 60C. Otherwise its between 29-32 usually when i'm not doing something that requires my CPU to work at full capacity.

Hmm thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately my cpu is idling around 58c ... havn't seen it go much higher however, hovers around 60. I'll try some different settings and fan speeds and figure it out. What do you use for fan management? Also if anyone can help me with my previous sound output problem after the flash :) Thanks everyone

:( thats unfortunate.
i don't use the onboard sound so i never knew :\

its strange though, because the sound chip is the same between the 2 of them :\ wierd :|
