i really hope they can bring it together this time.

meph. It really doesn't look that special. At least they finally realize that bombarding the user with icons and toolbars was a bad idea. Minimalistic people!

Vista is already a great OS and I don't need a OS that is called like the capitol of Austria at the moment. Will see, what will be in some years. DirectX 12 anyone? ;P
I read that Windows 7 will come with dx11 and touch screen and other new features as well.

yes im really hoping they shrink down all the crap they put on. should run faster as software advances, not slower.

Calm down people, it's just the third Milestone. I bet my balls that they will restart the project from scratch some time, just like they did with Longhorn.

The pics are looking good though. :)

On a side note: THEY WILL FINALLY UPDATE PAINT AND THE CALC HAHAHA :D

The look seems very close to Vista look, but the changes could be more deep. They are for exemple working on faster boot times.
What would be great is that they could remove theses *%µ!:/$$ damn messages about admin rights (Are you an admin? Are you sure you are one? Click on the right left on the screen, then say " I am an admin" to confirm...irritating...).

Revert back to XP:p

It's gone in SP1 on Vista.

Anyway, Server 2008 was fast enough, so hopefully... this would be at least as fast. :p

And on a side note, I bet that no matter how fast it boots, it can't beat my EeePC. 13-second boot, anyone? :p

I personally don't like vista, but given the fact that so many people have put so much effort behind it, I appreciate it more. If they come up with dx11 then what will happen to the current gen graphics cards?

Do not forget you got also a light version of XP for the EeePC.:p
The same thing on a desktop takes 30 seconds to boot. No excuse there. :p And it's not because the Eee has an SSD either because my desktop HDD reads and writes many times faster than the Eee's SSD.

A full install of XP takes 35 seconds to boot on Eee whereas it takes about 50 seconds to boot on the desktop.

since the theme looks exactly like Vista, it makes me think this is just a tweaked version of Vista, which would be epic fail again.

Vista is too much fail to *tweak*, they need to start from scratch and build a slick-optimized OS with a decent GUI.
its pretty sad that a company with that much money can't do such a task...

I like Vista it look, feel, and it's faster than XP and its has fewer BSODs. I won't go back to XP ever again. Today's hardwares (cpu and gpu) are more than enough to handle Vista.

People with a 10 years old pc expect theirs pc to run windows vista smoothly need to be realistic ;)

Windows 7 is using a new minimalist kernel.

are you serious??
I've been running Vista Ultimate 64bit for awhile. I appreciate the extra features and I've had absolutely zero problems.
