Despite upgrading to a new version of the Windows 10 Insider program, my computer recently gave me a BSOD saying "EVALUATION PERIOD OVER". After restarting, it says my PC will shut down every 2 hours until I upgrade. Lovely.
My PC actually downloaded the update, but somehow refuses to install it. It tells me to restart to upgrade... And never installs it. This is the fourth time an Insider builds gives me this issue, but hey, those are test builds right? So fair enough.
So I do what I normally do, and go to Microsoft websites to download the ISO of the newest build to upgrade. But all of their pages for the download are just white. Nothing on them, they finish loading and are white. It's doing this on multiple device. So I can't even download their damn build.
And this brings me to a few gripes:
1) 2 hours to download an ISO through your browser is gonna cause an issue for some users with slower connections. You'll BSOD during the download which will cancel it.
2) A BSOD just isn't the best way to tell people to update. Especially when it's unexpected. Imagine someone working when this happens. There are gentler ways to push you off the PC, such as giving you 5 minutes to save your stuff before a forced shutdown. (Windows already does this when it wants to update without your permission anyway)
3) If me not getting a BSOD requires a copy of an update, please make SURE I can access it?
So now I'm using torrents from KickAssTorrents to get a recent copy of the iso. Gotta hope it's as "untouched" as they claim.
