I've read the system specs in the "Post your Screenshot" thread and the system requirement in faqs... but, I'm curious if PCSX2 will work on my computer... It's a laptop, not a PC.

Intel Centrino Duo Core T2400 1.83GHz (total 3.4 or 3.2 or somewhere around)
2GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 w/ 512MB video memory (w/ shader 3.0)

That's all I know, I don't know the FSB and other specific specs of the RAM and stuff....

Please let me know if I can run PS2 games or not.

Thanks!

I don't understand... Most of the system specs on the post your screenshot thread's speed, ram, and video memory are less than mine, and their games works fine...
Is it because it's a laptop?

Does that apply to all games that currently can be emulated by PCSX2 or does it only apply to Final Fantasy X?
For the most part each game is different. Like Resident Evil 4 needs more gfx power than say FFX. So if you have a weak gfx card you might get 18fps or whatever.

But I want to make sure, if nobody else's computer can run any game at full speed, I probably can't either. On the "Post your Screenshot" thread, when someone says "no frame skipping" does that mean it runs at full speed?

You can enable frameskipping. It skips some frames from being rendered. So it increases the fps but you can get jumpy/laggy gameplay.

I wouldn't expect full speed unless you plan on playing the faster 2d games. Which I couldn't name, because I don't have or remember them.

Ok, it's 1 AM, I'll go over a friend's house tomorrow and borrow a few PS2 games and see if they run well or not....

You sure there's no chance for FFX to run at full speed?

Another off topic question, my laptop's specs meets all the requirements to run Tom Clancy's SC Double Agent (for PC, not ps2 emulator), but the game won't run and displays an error message. Any idea why? The only reason I can see is that my video card is not supported, but the shader and stuff meets requirement and video memory is 2x required...

I would guess you'd get near or full speed if you use frame skipping. Try VU skip also. I cant really say for sure cause I don't have a core duo. I do know they perform better than my AMD chips, so it's at least worth a shot. My desktop gets right around full speed with VU skip and it's clocked @ 2.2

Frame skipping. It should be close.

Double agent. Maybe your laptop hardware isn't supported. I couldn't get Battlefield 2142 to startup on my laptop. Works fine on my desktop which has similar hardware. Dual core AMD with a 0.2ghz difference and 7600GT vs. 7600GO and 2gb vs. 1gb. I think it's just the mobile gfx card, or the drivers for it.

i have a similar laptop like yours and pcsx2 works pretty fine with it. I finished ffx on this laptop and got 30~60 fps. Im now currently playing kingdom hearts i got around 40~100 fps (with 256 color). If u run pcsx2 on a laptop, try not to play it for too long because when ur cpu is running at 100%, it can create alot of heat.

Hello! My machine isn't very powerfull - ADM Athlon(tm) Processor, 1.7 GHz, System RAM - 256 MB, Video card - Radeon 9550 with Video RAM: 128.0 MB. So can i run PS2 games with this emulator on my PC?
You should be able to. You can't use the VM version (pcsx2.exe) of release 9.2 You would need to use the TLB version (pcsx2t.exe)

thanks kinzuagolfer for answer, but why not pcsx2.exe? In pcsx2 officialo site they wrote: "PCSX2.exe is a Virtual Memory build and should be faster than PCSX2t.exe, this build however requires Win XP Pro or Win XP Home Edition (SP2).

PCSX2t.exe is a TLB build, and is slower than the Virtual Memory build, use this if you do not have a Win XP OS, or are having trouble running games with the VM version."
I have Win XP Pro (SP2).
