I cant understand why, nearly each women I have seen, hate Computers? they say "ALL" of them, it brings headache, boring..etc!!

What makes me sure for this issue, I read an article about 90+% of programmers are Men not WOMEN!! is there a tie?!

I dont know. But it should be related to the role they have learned to play in the society. They dont like football, they dont like videogames nor watching too much television. Maybe its the way they think they will be different from men and more "acceptable" in their role of women to society.
Or maybe they simply dont like them :)

Yea, because they arn't looking up p0rn

I think that alot of girls don't use computers is because they don't like the social stigma that goes along with that. Men on the other-hand arn't so dependent on that sort of thing thus being more popular for them.

Careful in there... some women in my country have a mouse for hand (mmm... that sounded dirty). Trust me, they are a pain in UT, Q3A or even CS...
Yes, nothing more humilliating than suffering a headshot from some chick nicknamed "BlueMary"... and no, I wasn't the one who was headshoted ;)

Just because someone's name on the internet suggests that they are a girl doesn't really mean they are one (I mean come on, do you really think that the AOL lesbian chat room has ALL girls in it). There is always exeptions to the rule though, there was I girl that I knew that could kick my ass at Street Fighter 2, no s*** (asian, of course).

My, my... let me explain the situation a bit... in my country we are stuck with 56K connection so playing on your home is impossible. What do you do ? You go to a LAN place (the name is self-explanatory) and you play with whoever is in there (there are a lot of ppl... it's a good bussines nowadays), there you see that THERE ARE girls... and one of them was named BlueMary...
Geez which kind of idiot will think that someone is a woman just by the nick...

yea, I would tell her that I was, "going easy on her". But we both knew that was total BS.

My sentiments exactly, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thing is, women use computers, but few get entrenched enough to become programmers.
My mother is something of an exception, she's recently become something of a geek, and she's taking a university course on programming.

Here in Pakistan, 95% ISPs have female personals dealing their customers. I don't see women "hating" PCs...

Indeed, on my career (systems) we are 19 students and out of that number 6 are women... it's true that at a time women stayed away from computers, but there was also a time when ppl thought about computer gaming as heresy and look now ;)

I have seen an artilcle of one of those programmers, that his girlfriend ask him: "Why do you love Computers so much?" he answered: "You know, every girl has a puppet called Barbie. for US men Group our =Puppet= `barbies' are Computers!!"

I recently saw an article about some striking statistics that claim that boys use computers more because they are psycologically more sure of using it and they are more readily accustomed to being slighty anti-social. Maybe it's because most boys are shy or have a sweet spot for girls. Makes you think...

I don't trust that kind psycological stuff... I know lots of guys who use computers and are totally extroverted, it's just a coincidence that some are slightly anti-social...
The only thing that makes me think is why we see so few girls on the forums... I mean, is such a hard place to find ?

Hmm...
The only thing we can think of is...Woman dominated the industry back in the day using computers as administrative assistants, secretaries, data entry, etc....as they have grown to more prominent roles in buisness the computer is still the focus for "work"...They sit in front of computers for most of the day....we are sure they don't grasp the desire to jump back on at home....The difficulty may stem from the fact that they cannot see the computer as an entertainment tool.
Society seems to play a role as well....generally men are always portrayed as having tons of electronic gadgets as gifts...while woman dominate with the latest fashions and jewelry. Take up a mens magazine..the focus is on cars, hunting, gadgets, fighting, games, sex, etc....pick up a womans magazine and it focuses on clothing, makeup, fashion trends, celebrity gossip, relationship tips, dieting tips...

It apparently has some effect...Take us and our wife as examples....we both work with computers in our daily jobs....we could race home and jump back on without a problem...she would rather do something else...When she does get on the computer she mainly surfs the web looking for clothing items, checking celebrity pages, and visiting message boards like one she visits for people who hate Jennifer Lopez..hahaha. Either that or she checks for email or chats online with friends....thats it
We on the other hand surf game pages, emulation pages, play games, find proggies to make life easier, and more...

A trip to the mall means she will drag us to shoe stores, clothing outlets, makeup stands ..etc....She generally has to check every rack twice to find something she likes...we on the other hand can do a single pass of the store and find something to wear...our focus is in the electronic stores..ways to upgrade our PC...checking game prices....thats our thing....we walk into a game store and she rolls her eyes "Don't you have enough games?" she asks...she then drags us into a shoe store and buys a pair that look like every other pair of shoes she has in the closet....woman and men....ever the curiosity
