The Topic Problem on the Emuboards

It wasn't much of a problem before, but now there are many topics whose subjects don't say much about the content of the topic. You see topics such as "HELPPPP MEE!!! I NEED HELP AND I AM DYING BECAUSE I HAVEN'T HAD ANY HELP!". In such topics you find the usual question such as "My sound in Epsxe isn't working anymore. How can I fix it? I'm positively dying to know." Pretty sad, actually. The admins should make a sticky on each forum and sub-forum that explains (politely of course) how to make a simple topic subject. If you want to make a topic about Epsxe sound problems, then make the subject reflect the content. I hate browsing the boards without knowing what's inside each topic.

I agree, and maybe it should go into a rules update

Those are frequent in the EPSXE problems, a guy posted a topic related to Saga Frontier, and well i got the same problem as that guy and we were waiting for someone to at least say something like "EPSXE doesn't support that game" well the thread died and i still got that question and i'm sure if that guy haven't posted another thread he still got that doubts

All it takes is just a little common sense. Do we REALLY have to go to such lengths as to explain HOW to start a thread?

no

I know this is gonna sound funny, but it seems like people can really use it. It's currently impossible to sift through the threads looking for a specific problem.

There is no need to people that don't know how touse a forum to post in the right place, for that there's the MOVE command

#10 ·
Yeah, but try being the one who has to do all the moving :p

Anyways I think this isn't all that great an idea. A sticky such as that would just be one more thing that your target group to ignore. Although that said a simple line of advising ppl that descriptive titles are preferred wouldn't go amiss.

Well if you admin people want a help in moving the threads i can do that :p

Hmm another suggestion should be a Stick Thread in each of the topics, describing what's talked in that area, what you think beta? Cause the people don't read the text that is wrote in the thread, so maybe a Stick topic should solve that

just to finish this :topicoff:, if i deserved a time to get the red stars were in the beginning of the forum as everyone wants, not that determinated to get'em but when you stay more time in the forum you see that those red are not that necessary, i myself like my status as user, and if someone wants to set new admin or mod and if i was included in the list wow that would sound great, cause someone saw that i'm helping with te forums, and wants to give the new status, by the way, i've saw many wise words as Shori when he was a user like me and i got * WOW * he got the words, and the spirit to analise every user of this forum and he suggest some users to become admin's and mod's and he not included himself, and it were a wise decision to set him as a admin cause he's one of the most current users of this forum, same as Kane, Zephon, Evill Squall, sxamiga, raziel, beta, Fivefeet8, samor, prafull, we cannot forget the spirits of the forum as Keith, Kairi, Ryos, we also got some fabulous users as Demigod, Neojag, Esturk, Jonys and so many many others.. well i set myself clear in this? Well maybe heh sorry for the big post ;)

Naw. Probably not needed. There's already a discription for each forum on the main page.

BTW It's ok. I'm a librarian so I'm used to moving things into their proper place ;). The only issue I have is that the business students have a habit of hiding books in the music section :eyes:.

HAhah  funny one beta :D, i'm noticing the sticked topic in every thread, hmm but in the whole threads of the forum there is a sticked one?

I think It would help A LOT if the search function would work properly; all threads, from april 2001, are still there, but they simply dont show up when using the search function. Otherwise it would be easier to point to questions that are asked twice AND you could inform new user to use the search function first and it would actually have results as well. =P

The search function that you see on top of every subforum creates search results based on thread title only.

This topic has gotten way out of control.

You're right, Betamax. I just got so fed up with it that I decided that some action needed to be taken because nobody was doing anything about the problem. Whatever you guys do is fine, as long as it hints to people that they should be more selective when choosing a topic subject.
