Since so many people keep on making new threads regarding the same exact issue, spread across multiple games that have more than one disc, I decided to make a new thread all together so everybody have a chance to find out how to fix the issue and to minimize new threads that keeps filling the boards with the same dilemma, just in a different game.

I have FINALLY cracked this riddle that has been hunting the ePSXe users for so long!
I posted a long incorrect theory on how to fix this, regarding a missing physical disc drive being the root of the problem.. that was not the case, but NOW I have the SOLUTION!
This guide will be covering the dilemma with your ISO files disc swap crash.
If you however run your games through your regular discs, it should not be a problem, and you should approach exactly as you expect.. choosing to swap discs and insert your disc 2 etc.
When you want to play a multiple-disc-game through your ISO files, you have to approach the loading of ISO's differently.
If you follow this guide EXACTLY AS I SAY, you should be able to swap discs WITHOUT crashing the emulator!
This HAS to be done BEFORE you play the game as normal (but only if you know that you are going to swap discs down the road in this very play section that you are going to play)

1) Open ePSXe, and choose File > Run CDRom
(If you have enabled Full Screen, the screen should now fade into black, and show the white ANALOG ON/OFF icon in the upper right corner)
Let the icon stay there for approximately 3 seconds just to be sure that the command has been understood by the emulator.
2) Press ESC on your keyboard and return to the emulator UI (User Interface).
3) Click on File > Change Disc > ISO
When you have double clicked on the game disc/ISO you want to play, press ESC again to return the UI after the emulator goes back to the black screen, and click on Run > Reset
4) The game should now load as normal, and should now allow you to change at least one disc later on, I can not say with 100% certainty that this can be done more than once during the same playthrough, or through a multiple disc, non-stop playing section.
I was testing Parasite Eve II, and booted up the second disc despite having no save data, and thus NOT being able to play from that disc at the given moment.
When I chose NEW GAME, the screen asked me to change to disc 1, and so I did by pressing ESC > File > Change Disc > ISO
And when the window opened to change disc, it DID NOT CRASH!
I did the EXACT same as I wrote in the guide above.
This was tested on ePSXe Build 1.9.0.
If you have ANY QUESTIONS what so ever, please ask here in this thread by either replying to this wall of text or simply just post your question as you normally would!
Happy gaming, people!
The horror is finally over.
