i have signed up to an isp which has a cut off time of 2 hours, which means that after 2 hours no matter what i'm doing (even if i'm in the middle of download) my modem disconnects.
is there a programme which can over ride this !

There was a free program exactly like that on the cover of .NET magazine in the UK. Try checking on WebAttack (better than Download.com).

This topic doesn't really belong in the Web development / Programming forum. Should be in the Software Discussion forum.

No there isn't. If your ISP is forcing a disconnect after 2 hours, there is nothing you can do about it.

Call your ISP and ask them WTF is going on. My cable one used to discconect all the time. And then I called em and havnt happened since. ;)

lol. its in the small print in the contract for my ISP
(freeserve :( ) so i think kane is right i don't think there is anything i can do about it.
one thing i did find was that my modem maximum speed could be changed and so i put it up to 921600 b/s but i still only connect at 40.0 K :(

So you have Dial Up? I feel for you. Well the best thing to do is switch and search for better ones. Maybe name companies. Like Telus, Bell etc ... ;) AT&T

ergh...i ahte those stupid contracts...i was stuck with prodigy yahoo for 3 years (56k and before it was owned by yahoo)...it was horrible...and if i cancelled the contract my mom owed like $200 dollars...and like $100 if it was a month before the contract ran out...i hate those damn ISP's that do that
