So far I have played Tales of Phantasia for SNES, PSX and GBA. After that I went and searched for Tales of Destiny, the reviews and screens at gamefaqs don't seem to give a very positive sign about this game.

I concluded the problems i heard are

- swords are overdone
- using graphics from tales of phantasia SNES version, as in copy and paste, not all but some...
- many complain that the story is very very unmotivating..... even for reviews with 10/10 at gamefaqs.
- Battle control is easier in PSX tales of phantasia or same.

I just want to know what people here will think about Tales of Destiny 1.
Btw, just to make sure you are clear, I'm talking about Tales of Destiny ONE for psx, NOT Tales of Destiny 2/eternia. and finally, does it work good with EPSXE?

I actually thought ToD was pretty good. At the time of it's release, alot of games were going and trying revolutionize or even give a new feel to rpg's. ToD came along and gave me that classic rpg feel.

I recommened it. Now if only Namco would of brought over it's true sequal for ps2.

Kinda. Most characters use swords, but that's part of the story.

BS. The graphics are very similar to the PSX version fo Tales of Phantasia. In fact, I think the ToP remake used the ToD engine.

The story is so-so. Nothing really innovative of special, but not bad for this kind of game.

About the same as the PSX Tales of Phantasia.

My personal option of the game: It's pretty good, story a bit below Tales of Phantasia, but overall nice. If you like the series you may want to try Tales of Destiny 2 (aka Tales of Eternia) as well, this one has a MUCH improved battle system IMHO.

I don't trust that gamefaqs reviews cause they all sucks and lie, they put score 10/10 or 9.5/10 for Bloody roar 4 but inside the review, they all saying it sucks, it's bad and etc, etc. and btw I also looking for tales of destiny 1 and 2 but i didn't know in which platform tales of destiny 2 is released.

Tales of Destiny 2 (Tales of Eternia in Japan) is for the PSX.

the ToD 2 (Tales of Eternia) is a much better than ToD 1 for PSX... you might want to get that one too...

well what I love most on ToD is its battle system...

Tales of Destiny one was a great game. Granted it was an early psone game, so don't expect anything fantastic, but it is a great old school rpg. Highly recommended!

its the sequel to TOD1 iirc n i think TOD1 is alrite. the story is kinda shitty though cuz it doesnt attract me to it n encloses me in taht story. TOP was way better, even the one on SNES ;)

Really?! there's a TOD in PS2? is it a japanese or english version?
Japanese only so far. No plans have been announced for a ToDII stateside release. I think they might think people will get confused because of thier brilliant idea of naming Tales of Eternia ToDII stateside.

Hi all. Please forgive a new comer's silly question, but I thought that Tales of Destiny 2 (I have both for the Playstation) was just that Tales of Destiny 2 the sequel to Tales of Destiny. Now you say it is not? Then I'm sorry but I am confused here. What exactally is Tales of Destiny 2 then? I haven't played it yet but I am wondering because now I am hoping that I will like it. Since I had assumed that it was Tales of Destiny 2 when I bought it, I was sure then that I would like it since I liked Tales of Destiny very very much. Now I am not sure that I will like it. Please help a confused lady here would you? Thanks so much.
cutie :)

Hi cutie. there are five Tales by now.
tale of ... (sorry for my english), tale of destiny, tale of eternia, tale of destiny2, and there is a new tale on NGC which is good also.

the problem is the japanese thought tale of eternia(3rd)(FOR PS) might not sell well abroad so they name it tale of destiny II(3rd)(FOR ps) to attract eyeballs...now the real tale of destiny II(4th)(forPS2) is out in Japan...
