I downloaded the latest verison of the CVGS XP patch, and i'm using CVGS 1.4.1, but I have a really annoying problem! Whichever game I play, every 5-6 seconds into playing, the game hangs for about 3 seconds before resuming, and it does this all the time. Now, whenever it hangs, I try pressing 'Esc' to go the the main menu, but it doesn't which means my whole system hangs every 5 seconds. Playing around with the 'Priority' setting when you run the patch doesn't help, so I honestly do not know what to do.......you know, I've been waiting for this for SOO long, and finally when it can happen, it's all screwed up!!! Please, someone help!! All the help is deeply appreciated.

A sort of a short pause (2-3 seconds) only happens to me during long MDEC sequences, and infrequently at that. It's just one of those kinks that hasn't been ironed out yet I suppose. :p But I'm not complaining, as long as I get to use my favorite emu in XP! :)

yeah I had the exact same problem with VGS regarding the pause every 5 secs problem. Also, it seems whenever I exited VGS, my monitor always automatically adjust its refresh rate back to 60Hz...?? Any idea??

I am using GF2MX vid card with 19 inch monitor and det driver 29.90. I set my res to 1280X1024X32 bits and refresh under 85Hz.
Other games and programs work fine with the refresh rate though.

felpax, i too have this hanging prob with VGS Patch, but the hang is not at every 5 seconds. also, the hang is not caused by the cd rom drive, coz i load the iso of the psx games using daemon, and the hang yet occurs in the same manner. so dont worry, its not ur rom drive, its just a glitch in the patch, which im sure will be definitely removed soon. Its finally here, a patch for VGS on XP!!

hey guys, the VGS patch is updated and that hang during a game has been removed. Now VGS can be played in Xp exactly the way it was in the previous versions of windows. U can get it on the home page of ngemu.

I don't see why it won't.

This is great!! Finally it works like a charm!! I'm currently playing Syphon Filter 3. You know, the reason why I LOVE VGS is cause it's so simple! ePSXe involves SOO many settings, and testing a game with different settings that at some point you are just put off! VGS is just the best.

'felpax', I highly doubt that VGS will ever support 3D acceleration cause then it looses out on it's compatibility...and to tell you honestly, I don't think anyone is working on that, cause ePSXe is available, so you might as well use ePSXe for 3D Acceleration.

Yeah, I know VGS is out a long time... I said it CAN be possible because we never tought we could play VGS under XP. It seems that Connectix VGS.exe can be changed or patched , right ? So, why not ? I was only joking about it...

Save States would be great...
i can just imagine VGS with save states a la ZSnes style :)

I only know that there are more directdraw games that suffer from exactly the same problem in XP. I don't know a solution to that problem, only know it's a common problem with various games.

its good to hear that vgs finally has a patch for xp but i checked it out at ngemu.com but i cant seem to find it... n i got the patch for 1.4 but it says i need tnkXfs.dat, where do i get that?

tnkXfs.dat is the uncompressed VGS.exe file. Just run the emulator and it'll create it.

You can grab the VGS NT fix at Aldos Tools. The VGS Video Patch XP 1.2 has it incorporated.

In order to stop the stuttering in MDECs and slow input response you need to shut down all unnecessary processes. Just leave the vital system ones and shut them all down. See shot below.

i did run vgs but it didnt create that file n it only said it only runs under 95 n 98

Try cleaning your temp folder. Windows needs to uncompress VGS before running it and will usually store it in temp afterwards. I had a similar problem before because Windows would erase it afterwards and I believe I was able to fix it by cleaning my temp folders.

i cleaned my temp folder but it still doesnt work; same problem :(
